“Under the stars by the river: An unforgettable trip of friends surrounded by nature.”

I always affirm that the time spent with friends and nature is invaluable, and today I want to share a very important post for me, since it is about an experience in a surprisingly beautiful environment with my husband and friends.

This trip was planned at short notice, we only made a few calls and immediately made it. We arrived at the place separately, since we all lived far away and we couldn’t get there together. Our first stop was at a gas station, where we enjoyed the sunrise for half an hour before continuing to our destination.

When we arrived at Las Terrazas, we met our friends and travel companions. Before going into the mountains, we took a walk through the town. At that time, the views were impressive and we took the opportunity to take a lot of photos. On the way to the mountains, we find a beautiful lake, different types of plants and a very tender little chick. After walking about 7 kilometers, we discovered a very beautiful river and decided that that would be our camping place.

Once we chose our place, we proceeded to assemble the tents and light the fire to scare away the mosquitoes. The atmosphere was very pleasant and we felt comfortable from the first moment. We were all very hungry, so we set up a small table with what nature offered us and prepared spaghetti with tuna. I must confess that the lunch was delicious. After lunch, we talked for a while and waited for the food to digest and then get into the river. And they say that the third is the charm, finally after so many trips this year I was able to find a beautiful river to be able to bathe.

We spent a lot of time bathing in the river, which was full of small fish that approached our feet, as well as we also saw river shrimp and, of course, many frogs and toads. Although I’m afraid of them, they don’t bother me as long as they don’t mess with me.

When night came, the temperature dropped and we made sure to keep the fire on. When it got dark, I witnessed one of the most beautiful visual shows of my life: a lot of fireflies and cocuyos playing in the dark. Unfortunately, my camera couldn’t capture that wonderful scene, but I won’t be able to forget it easily.

There is only one photo left of that show, which cannot be missed, they will quickly realize what it is 😅.

This beautiful trip makes me see the importance of dedicating time to those we love the most and to the nature that surrounds us. Despite the fact that the trip was planned at short notice, it turned out to be an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. From enjoying the sunrise at a gas station to finding a beautiful river to bathe, laughter, stories, setting fire, listening to and seeing exotic birds such as tocororos, cartacubas, carpenter birds, sinsontes, every moment was special and full of adventures. In addition, the observation of fireflies and cocuyos in the dark reminded us of how gratifying it can be to go back to the basics and connect with nature. This adventure inspires us to appreciate the small details of life and to enjoy the beauty and the environment that surrounds us.

PS: No animal was damaged or traumatized, all the photos were taken with caution and respecting the environment. All the garbage and plastics used were collected and thrown away in a garbage dump. We made sure that the fire was well extinguished before we leave the place to avoid forest fires.
