This year I was finally able to execute a project I had been planning for a long time: Painting my house..
I'll tell you what I haven't painted my house for five years, I couldn't find the time or the disposition to face this task, which may seem simple but in my country there is nothing simple, everything you do implies a battle.
I decided to join this mission because my son was coming to visit us after two years of absence, I have already told you that he emigrated from Cuba like almost all of his friends.

I started by looking for the paint, that was the first big test, in the stores that had paint of a better quality were overpriced and there was no variety of color. In other stores the price was a little better but the quality was very bad, some people who had already used it recommended not to buy it.
After going through half of Havana, I managed to buy an interior vinyl, a little better, but it required a repair process, I had to buy a color extract and some acetate, mix it and well it was nice.
The most difficult thing was to find the oil paint for the doors, windows and railings, there was none in the foreign exchange stores, I found it in the informal market and others in the craft fairs, unfortunately all overpriced and bad, we painted with them but although it looks good, they need a better finish.
We took advantage of the painting process and fixed the bathroom window, the frame had comejen, because our friend Carlos did a great job, with acerrim of cedar and acetate confirmed a mixture that when lisping was a conformed wood and then put the final frame .
Lastly, we fixed the fan lamp in the living room, we cleaned it, cleaned it and varnished it, it really looked like new, I took advantage of the fact that I found varnish at the Virgen del Camino faith fair and we bought enough for the furniture.
I am not going to give you the details of everything I suffered with the painter I hired, who I paid in advance because he was someone I knew, but he disappeared, and I ended up taking on the painting with the help of some friends.
I know you can imagine that the time allocated to these tasks took longer than expected with these inconveniences, the backlog involved in any repair is tremendous.
But in the end I am happy, the house appreciated these details and it was a time in which we broke the routine of everyday life and shared with friends in this process, impregnating love and fun.
We were able to welcome our son as we wanted, with his home being cheerful and beautiful..
