A Question That Has Many Different Answers

All living things have a life. By this I mean, living things are born, they live and then they die. What is the meaning of life though? I feel this question can have many different interpretations and the answer will vary from person to person. Everyone will have their own unique perspective on it so I hope you don't flame me in the comments below for my perspective.

For me, I feel life is more than just living. Hey now that sounds a bit confusing. By this, I mean it's more than just working, eating and sleeping. It's about having a purpose and I'm not referring to the mundane things in life that we need to do to survive. In my opinion, every living thing has a purpose in life but for humans our purpose and potential is significantly greater than any other living thing since we are blessed with dexterity, cognitive abilities etc.

For example, I hate mosquitoes but they play a big role in the world by pollinating and being food for other wildlife. This is pretty much their purpose in life. As a human though, we can do almost anything. We can be a lawyer, a farmer, a doctor, a homeless person, a criminal etc; there is just so many choices. Despite having all these choices, I feel the root purpose of humans is to contribute to society. This can be positive or it can be negative. For example, a positive way would be someone like Abraham Lincoln who abolished slavery. A negative way would be like Hitler who killed people and started a world war. Of course people could argue the opposite but I won't argue with you.

For me, I believe my purpose in life is to positively impact the society. I should not only improve myself throughout my life but I should also help change peoples lives and make the world a better place.

I like your point of view, in some things I agree and in others I don't, but that's the beauty of life that we can share our ways of thinking with respect. Who brings a bum, a murderer or criminal to me are the dark side of society that is usually invisibilized.

It's all good. This question is very deep and hence I titled it has many different answers and I don't think there's any right or wrong answer here. It's all dependent on the person .

Ya I'm not too sure about the bum criminal and homeless. Although they they make a negative impact In society , I feel some people may justify their existence as a balance in society. Like we can't have good without evil etc. As for their purpose who knows maybe they are lost and didn't have one. We should still hope for the good that they can change and be a better person but for those that are psychopaths and stuff then we can just forget it and remove them from the world 😅.

I appreciate your comment. Thank you for reading and giving your opinion

Each of us have a purpose why we are created and it is important to recognise ours so we don't end up living an empty life. Life is more than eating and even living just as you said, it is more than that and that is our purpose.

yes living an empty life would be no good but then again that could be their purpose? i have no idea haha. I've seen a lot of answers to this prompt and I don't feel theres any correct answer though but I see we have a similar thinking in terms of the purpose.

Hehehe. An empty life isn't a purpose 🤣🤣
There must be something we are created to do right especially to humanity. Yes, we all have different perspective to this topic.

hmm im trying to think. what about those people that become a vegetable or u know they just stuck in a coma forever. wouldn't that be an empty life tho? Would we then say maybe that's unlucky and that was their destiny and purpose in life?

What do you consider an empty life? I will go deep in thought with you :P. maybe example, this person is a serial killer will we consider that as a purpose because he found his purpose was to kill people but maybe from our perspective it could seem like an empty life but from his view he's completely living his life's purpose.

I know I sound crazy. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it right. You don't have to respond either lol I just think it's interesting to have these kinds of talk

Hehehe. Well, just as I have been taught in church, someone who isn't living his or her purpose might be one who isn't doing what he or she is supposed to do. For example, if you are called to guide kids and you went in the way of working as a banker because you feel that's the way to enjoy life and accumulate lots of wealth, things might go wrong along the way, making that person lose all he has worked for. In the end, the person would go back to leading kids just as his or her purpose.

Another scenario like that of someone who is a serial killer, he isn't yet fulfilling his purpose because why would God decide that a person's purpose is to kill? No, no one dares takes the lives of another person. So, to me, such a person is living an empty life until he retrace his steps and find his purpose.
That's my input.

So, in my best understanding, to discover one's purpose, of course, you have to pray about it. Then something which works best again is to identify what you love doing right from time, something you find so easy to do. That may be your purpose. But of course, no one should neglect the place of prayer to know what they are exactly called to do or become.

Well, just as I have been taught in church,

but there are people that don't go to church or don't have a religion so how will they know if they are called to guide kids. Or if their purpose was to not kill people. Like some people bad things happen to them, then their "purpose" became to get revenge something like that (maybe this is to the extreme side but it does happen) Some people get bullied in school, then they just come with a gun somewhere and kill people we see stories of that before online.

I do understand your point of view though that god probably didn't have the purpose for a person to kill even though I don't really believe in religion no offense or anything.

In this part I'm not too sure about the prayer part because I don't have that experience but I do agree with the second sentence you said which is something we have to identify and love doing.

Sorry if I went too deep but I feel maybe we have a different thinking on this topic and a part of that has to do with religion and probably other various factors that we experienced throughout our life. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I still think you're a great person and you're doing great in what you're doing.

Oh wow. We all are different and there are some who do not like anything religious and they find it hard to digest the part of prayer or anything related to the Almighty being who is God in this case.
Well, that is just my point of view and I am also glad to be able to know a little about your perspective on this also.
