It was one of the exhausting weekend after a long time. No trip, no parties, still I felt the Pain. Something which I started enjoying lately. My weekend went in the fields, mostly doing some strenuous exercise of loading the pady crops. People assume a farmers life to be easy, but when it comes to physical activity, they are much better than any other. I have been seeing them since last few years and now started to get the act together. And this is how ai was involved and spend my Saturday.
No wonder, after all the strenuous exercise, Sunday supposed to be a rest day, bit still I am after the thresher machine for pass threshing. But let's talk about the Saturday, that went completelly on the field, to load the harvested crops. And by the time, it completed, it was well late at 9 PM. This is why farming is not supposed to be an easy job. I was exhausted and nailed.
Our harvesting process is compltelly manual based. A manual paddy harvesting process involves cutting the rice stalks by hand using a sickle or similar tool. This was done earlier and left on the fields to dry. As I reached home yesterday, it was the time to collect and take these bundle to a different location for threshing. The gathering of the cut stalks and manually threshing them to separate the rice grains from the chaff. This was next step, typically done by beating the stalks against a hard surface, making it a labor-intensive method. This requires a significant amount of human effort compared to machine harvesting with a combine harvester. But before doing that, we have to take these bundle to a seperate area. And I pitched in to make the job bit easy.
Harvesting is considered a strenuous exercise because it often involves repetitive, awkward movements like bending, lifting, reaching, and twisting, while simultaneously carrying heavy loads for extended periods, putting significant strain on the muscles and joints of the back, shoulders, legs, and arms, especially when done manually without proper mechanization. All the activites can lead to fatigue, muscle soreness, and potential musculoskeletal disorders. I felt the Pain whole, after working out for few hours.
Carrying large quantities of harvested crops can put significant strain on the back and arms. To take away the paddy from the fields, we need to transport them via a tractor. We load all the bundles into the tractor. While a person was taking care of the loading , I was the one who used to throw them onto the tractor. Honestly, it require a heavy physical effort. After few hours I can sense that and today morning, I started feeling the pain.
Loading so many bundles of stacks is not an easy job. All the physical efforts is what makes the farmers much more physically fit than others. Now as the bundles have been transported. These were beaten against a hard surface like a wooden plank or stone to separate the grains from the chaff. However, I am hopeful to get a thresher machine, which makes rhe job easy. May be later in the day, I can find one and finish the paddy separation by evening.
The pain I am feeling on my body is quite satisfying, as it involves effort put into own crops. Even though it was laburous, but that is how small farmers are working. A good fruitful weekend to enjoy.
Peace!!

That's how hard it is to be a farmer, there's a lot to do and it will really eat all the energy, but its amazing that a farmer can take all these. They go on, on the repetitive process, they are the coolest. And what a tiring day you had harvesting and doing all these. But I guess you still enjoy it. ✨
Carrying and loafing all those stacks take away all the energy. I wad no there during cutting, it was more tiring. But most satisfying is working on own field
Truly farming is not an easy job but its quite rewarding. As a farmer, there are certain things which i dont know the market value all because i grow it myself and its sufficient.
Whatever the farmer does is always satisfying...they know their efforts never get wasted.
You're right
You look tired, and yes, it's true that life in the countryside is not easy, it's exhausting but it pays off and you work in an environment of nature. .... rest!
Surely, it was rest day, but lot of pain in right shoulder, throwing such bundles to such height is tedious
Rest!!!
With the way you carry those grass you sure got a lot of both energy in there and determination that you gonna finish stacking it up 😀
Those were heavy. Those were suppose to be loaded as the height increases it ask for more energy
Ohh and as the night increases you lost energy but determine to finish stacking it up now I understood the title 😀
