W.E #240 // OUT & ABOUT ON THE WEEKEND

Around here, the weekend starts on Friday evening. At the close of work, many rush of to go grab drinks with friends, go party, go on a date, or just do something fun. That's because most people reserve Saturdays for sleeping so long from all the compounded stress from the work and fun time of the previous day.

Since I work from home, my routine pans out differently. From around 11pm on friday to 8 am the following day, Saturday, I stay up working. When eventually my shift is done and I get off work, I rush through getting a shower and eating because I have to catch some very deserved rest since I'm always sleepy right after.

I'm a heavy sleeper, so most times, I would sleep until it's about 3 pm in the evening. I always wake up feeling really fatigued and plain lazy. Saturday is my off-day from work. But as you may already have deciphered, I spend it sleeping. While others are out chilling and getting some fun, I'm indoors sleeping. It's not something I like, and I wish I could change up my entire shift rotation to suit me, but I can't. So, I have to do what I have to do. I either go with the flow or leave the job.

I spend the rest of the day, which runs by so fast, watching a game on TV, exercising and at least trying to socialize on social media since I can barely do that offline. It sucks, I must add! Sunday comes, i go to church, get back inntime to have lunch and sleep for only about two hours cause by 3pm I have to work until past midnight. You see what I say? It sucks.

However, if I had my way, I wouldn't work on the weekend. I would spend it going out to play football or some other sport. Or at the least, I would spend it by going to visit some of my friends and relatives in the city.

My routine right now is no fun. And I know I said it a dozen times that football is the best thing I could do at anytime. But can you imagine that I no longer have the time for it!? I think I'd rather spend my weekend just socializing and truly living and enjoying my youth rather than be stuck in this monotonous way of living. I can't keep spending my days and weeks and months indoors such that when I'm not working, I'm sleeping, and when I'm not doing neither of the two, I'm laying down exhausted.

So, I'd rather be out and about forming meaningful relationships, networking, doing exciting things or spending quality time with family. After all, isn’t that what the weekends are for??

The weekend culture has definitely changed over the years. Working it can be the best way to make a few extra $ nowadays

That's right. We just have to find a way to adapt and balance things out.
