I love spending time in nature, it gives me a great energy, this way I manage to recharge my batteries for the week to come.

Nature is something amazing, something I can hardly describe in words, hence the many ways I connect with it, one of my favorite being fishing.

I'm a lucky guy, I have both hills and fields and a river pretty close to home, so I have no excuse not to go out in nature or relax on the banks of the Mures.

And yes, I go fishing on the Mures river, I am not an experienced fisherman, I use this hobby just for relaxation.

But let me tell you a little bit about fishing in our area.

Beginning with the Mures River itself, the Mures River flows through Romania and Hungary over a distance of more than 780 kilometers, rises at an altitude of more than 1300 meters above sea level, and flows through mountains, hills and plains until it leaves Romania (more information about the Mures River can be found here).

Being such an important river, it also has certain rules, especially when it comes to fishing.

And yes, if you want to fish on the Mures river you need a special authorization that costs around 170lei/37$/year, hang on, even if you have this authorization you are not allowed to fish when you feel like it, there are certain times of the year when fishing is forbidden, just like when I took the pictures (14.03.2025), this is also the reason why my sticks are not installed on the Mures river.

I know, maybe for some people sitting on the water can be boring, but not for me, I do it whenever I get the chance, and I must not forget to tell you that all my catches are released.

I have to tell you something about the ecological disasters made by those legal entities that have excavated gravel from the Mureș river (here in the area there are million euro businesses), honestly in the last years the fish population in the river has decreased in an alarming way, if 30 years ago some poorer people managed to get food for their family, today you can barely pinch a fish.

Also because of the chaotic excavations and swimming in this river has become extremely dangerous, in recent years many people have drowned here because of the holes of over 6 meters resulting from excavations and because of strong currents of water.

I only fish as a hobby and don't venture out on the water, I just want to enjoy the soothing sound of the water and the different sounds made by the birds in the area.
