Back With The Trees

in Weekend Experiences4 months ago (edited)

Finally, my energy has begun to return and with it, the desire to get working again. After spending the best part of the week at home on the land, I need to get earning. Yesterday I got a message from a friend of mine. Asking me if I wanted to help them finish harvesting the last of their olive trees, starting from today.

Yes, of course I wanted to. I often help them in their garden, in exchange for fruit and veg. I know how well they look after the soil. How much work they out in. Us I've tasted their oil from previous years and it's so good. I will get (paid) laid in oil which really suits me. I'll keep their own for my own personal use and then sell the oil I have made from other harvests.

We started harvesting this beautiful tree first. Starting just after nine o clock, when there was still quite a chill in the air. It might not look it, but it is a big tree and I spend my time on the ground with a huge piece of bamboo, knocking the olives down. When I tried to climb up into it, I realised that although I felt pretty good, I still wasn't in my full power, as I was unable to pull myself up in to it. So no climbing for me unfortunately.

But I still got a great work out. My shoulders and neck were quite sore in the begining, but after a little bit, they were fine. I was just happy to be outside, moving my body, as I should be. Feeling every muscle in my arms and back as we harvested each tree. Five in total today. They had 12 trees left to do, so that leaves seven, which we need to have finished by Tuesday as the mill is booked for Wednesday morning. So I have two more days. It felt good to be doing something I love, hard work yes, but very satisfying. Knowing what I'm working towards.

Before I left for the day, during which I had a great lunch. I got to pick some oranges, to take home for me and my girls. Some of the biggest, juiciest oranges I have ever tasted. Quite a wonderful activity, to finish up my working day.

You can now find me, lay out on my bed, with the newest member of the family, purring atop me. When I go to chill out ( which is another favourite activity of mine), I always end up with one of our animzl friends joining me, which to be honest I quite enjoy. This will be one of my final activities of the day, as I plan to have an early night, so that I wake up fresh for another day of work.

This is my response to one of the questions, from the latest Weekend Engagement Challenge.

I will get laid in oil

🤣 I know this is a typo but please leave it in. Made me lol. And if it isn’t a typo…well, I guess you deserve it after a hard days work 🫢

Btw, I always thought olive trees were small. That thing you harvested is a monster! And the colour of those oranges are sooo vibrant! Yummy!!!

Haha. I've left it in, with a little correction.
Imagine though, bathing in olive oil!

I know the trees here are so majestic, I thought the same till I moved here.

Haha I also noticed the little typo you already corrected :)

That cat looks very relaxed and let the purring vibrations help you heal your body fully. My cat Maesi always feels she needs to heal my pains by making biscuits while creating these extreme vibrations on top of me. It's always as if she knows where it hurts.. Got to love these little healers!

Not a bad thing to be paid in oil with these prices nowadays! I would not mind having my own trees in the future, first I need to have ground/a house for that lol.

Take care dear !PIZZA
