One of my favourite people in the world, celebrated her birthday the end of November and to celebrate, she treated me and three of our friends to a night away at the coast. San Jose to be exact, a beautiful beach town, where we stayed in a lovely little apartment, with a view of the sea. The Five of us are all mothers, so to have a night away without our children, was such a wonderful treat and much needed by us all. It was my first time to get to explore the coast north of Almeria, so I was super excited to go.
We left at 10a.m Saturday Morning ( about 3 weeks ago), I swear all our shoulders dropped, once we were n the car together and ready to depart. We had enough food for our time away, some wicked playlists and some very special mushrooms. I am not much of drinker, I just don't really enjoy alcohol. Except in the summer, when I do enjoy a nice cold ginger beer on a hot day. I also don't really want to be putting anything in my body, that doesn't compliment it. I want to enjoy many more years in this wonderful body of mine. But I do enjoy partaking in some magical mushrooms, on special occasions.
A night away with no children, is a pretty special occasion, alongside the opportunity to celebrate our wonderful friend.
So we set off and after an hour of driving, we were in Western Country. The place where many Spaghetti Westerns were filmed back n the day. The landscape was pretty barren, but the silhouettes of the mountains were stunning. It really was quite stunning. I kept expecting to see some tumble weed roll in front of our car, but I didn't. ( I did however get to see some on the beach, the following day.) Then we were in San Jose and looking for our apartment. ( and yes I was singing Do you know the way to San Jose, for almost all of the drive, well we all were.) We got in, unloaded and went to the beach to get our feet in the sand and water. On the way to the beach, we got to enjoy some small sand dunes as well, which we enjoyed running done.
Then we returned to the apartment, had a light lunch and done some prep for our dinner. We got that on and then we got some Oracle cards out, each picking one from the five
different packs. Once the dinner was cooked, A Thai Red Curry. We got the mushrooms out, gave them our blessing and then we each took a small amount. Then it was time to go down to the beach. To take a walk in the moonlight, as we began to feel the effects of the shrooms. Like little bubbles of bliss, rising up through our bodies.
The moon was almost full and all five of us felt great. The playfulness beginning to take over as we ran about the beach, singing, dancing and eventually falling over. Laughing so much, that I came close to peeing myself. Very close. I really can't remember when I laughed so much. She lay for ages on the sand, looking up at the stars, with the sound of the waves lapping on the shore. Bubbles of bliss, continuing to surge through our bodies. Feeling so present and alive. Then we got up and sang and laughed as we made our way back to the apartment.
The tunes were put on and I danced up and down the length of the apartment. After a while, we heated up the curry and had a delicious dinner. I was still buzzing a bit when I went to sleep later in the night. The next day, I was up early to watch the sunrise on the beach. The back for breakfast and to make a packed lunch as we were headed to another more secluded beach. It was really beautiful. Me and two of my friends walked around the cove and found another beach. Where the three of us stripped off and went skinny dipping in the cold winter sea. Oh it was very cold at first, but we braved it and soon we felt like mermaids in the sea.
Then, we enjoyed drying ourselves off in the sea as we once again danced and ran a long the beach. It felt very liberating and I decided there and then, that this was how I wanted to celebrate my next birthday, being wild on the beach.
