What Gets Me Motivated

Ever since I was a child, I have had a strong desire to be independent. To make my own way in the world, to show everyone that I needed no one, but myself. I had big plans back then, plans to see the world, to have glorious adventures and explore the many different terrains the earth has to offer. This all stemmed of course, from my childhood experiences. Of learning quite early, that the only person I could ever really trust, was myself. That the truth was something I felt. Not just something that I needed to be told. I trusted my gut feelings, my intuition and that has served me throughout my life. It has helped me to really feed into what I need in order to thrive in life. A life that for me is full of riches, but not riches that our obvious for some.

I live simply, a life full of wonderful experiences and interactions. Full of connections. Listening to my heart.

Down through the years I have met people who talked to me about various masters or people that they turn to for guidance. This is something that has always felt a little alien to me. I have never really looked outside myself for motivation, besides music that is. Music is something that inspires and motivates me everyday. Different genres, suit my many different moods. They fit with the many different shades of who I am.

When I read the following question, which is part of the Weekend Engagement Challenge, my initial answer was that I am very self motivated.

Do you respond better to external motivation or are you self-motivated? Explain with examples. Remember to use your own photos.

But as I set out to write my response, it became clear to me that I do rely on outside forces for motivation. Not just music, but also nature itself. Whenever I feel burnt out or stressed, I just need to take a walk in nature. Find a quiet spot for myself and just breathe. Breathe in my surroundings and all my stresses melt away. Nature has always been my sanctuary, my safe space. Where I go to release and re energise myself. It's why I choose to live surrounded by nature. Knowing, I don't have to go far to get out into the wild, surrounded by mountains. Where I feel free, which has to be the most motivating feeling of all.

That feeling that is so important to me, as we live in a world, where so many of our freedoms are being threatened, where so many have already been taken away. It's so important to remain free within our minds. Because that's where the real motivation comes from. ( For me anyhow). Mostly though, my motivation comes from within, this self preservation that I have had since I was younger. Being out in nature, ultimately allows me to turn inwards and focus on the real source of my inspiration, of my motivation.

Shout out to @galenkp, for posting questions, which at first may seem quite easy to answer, but when it comes to writing them, it causes one to really reflect on ones life.

Exactly, this was me too.

Lovely post!
One of my favourite things to do when life gets a little overwhelming, is go for walks while listening to music - nothing makes me feel better when I'm feeling down. The power of nature is something else 😊

Hello, I think the same as you, the motivation must come from within ourselves, to draw the strength from within ourselves to move forward. That motivation has its foundations on a solid base. There are people who because of their low self-esteem and insecurities need a helping hand to guide them and motivate them, in my opinion. The important thing is that they find their way, not all of us have the same strength and attitude. Greetings.

Thank you @hylene74, yes it has to come from within most of all xxx

I think that you found your motivate sources... Congratulations... 👍
