Hey there! It's @ddrfr33k with another message for you! Actually, I might be spilling the beans on something coming soon, but I want to also take the time to get some feedback from you guys. Because this is important, you know?
@chiren and I are working on a new feature for Vimm. More specifically, we're working on adding premium memberships as a means of helping support Vimm. We want to add new features specific to this premium membership that will help support the product long term. In turn, this will allow us to invest more into building the site. You know how these things work, everything requires money. "But Mr. @ddrfr33k, why are you telling us this?" you ask. Great question, random person from the internet! Thank you for asking! I'm making this post to get a bead on what features are important to you. So! Without further delay, I want to let you know what is currently discussed, but not finalized. I want to know if you like these features, or if there should be something we're missing. Once again, THIS LIST IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE! NOTHING IS SET IN STONE YET, PLEASE BEAR THAT IN MIND.
Special badge in chat and on the site
This would be very similar to our Supporter badge that we currently use for people that delegate to Vimm. (You should delegate if you can, too. Just saying) We would put it in as another badge, a way to show you support Vimm.
Share gifs from Tenor in chat
We had talked about this, and we thought this might be a fun way to add user engagement (or gif spam) to the chat. Streamers would be able to turn it on or off, and only premium members would be able to share gifs. We don't want things getting too out of hand, you know!
Special promotion for premium members on the front page
If you're live on Vimm, and you're a premium member, there's a good chance you'll be added to the front page rotation in a special field for promoted streamers. This could be a real opportunity to gain some more viewers!
Extended storage of VODs
Imagine your viewers going to one of your stream replays from 6 months ago. Wouldn't that be neat? Are you not quite at that gold tier mark but want to jump start your replays? This could be a solution for you! We're thinking that this would bypass the expiration dates on Replays for premium members. Not sure how much longer, but longer than what we currently have.
Custom emotes for live streams
Everyone loves custom emotes! What if you could have your own custom emotes on Vimm? You upload it, we host it (there will be restrictions, obviously...), and your viewers can drop them in chat! Let's be honest. You need this like you need a swift kick in the butt. Calvin's selling!
Oh, and for people that purchase this with fiat currency, you'd get some Gems to share with your favorite creators. Prices are not quite fleshed out yet, but we're working on that. We want it to be a good value for you, but also a good value for Vimm. We want everyone to win out of this proposition.

There's a lot of things I would like to see that may not necessarily be good for premium membership perks but I'll list them anyways.
Would the premium membership have benefits for both streamers and viewers or is it more tailored for streamers?

Yes, the plan is to have features that are relevant to both streamers and viewers. There's a balance that will need to be struck, obviously.
Low Latency is something that I would love to add, but we need a significant increase in capital before we can afford such an undertaking.
EDIT: I can't believe I missed the thing about custom emotes to be purchased with gems. It's funny you mention that, we had discussed something like this that I cannot share just yet. Stay tuned!
why not take the twitch road and let fans subscribe to streamers? take a cut from the sub revenue
That's also on the radar. The thought process is bringing this in first, then adding subscribing to streamers after that. We have a couple ideas on how to implement that, too!
