I am a strict daydream believer

My chin was placed in my palm as I imagined him walking up to me.

“Good afternoon madam, you have a meeting in ten minutes”.

I straightened and pulled my jacket together, holding it in place with its crystal button then pushed my swivel chair backward and walked out after him in my stiletto heels.

I rose in my room too as I imagined rising in my head. The doors opened on their own accord as we approached them.

“Who am I meeting with?” I asked him, his brown eyes met with mine briefly then he pressed some buttons on the elevator and we walked in.

“You're meeting with some indigenous choreographers. They want to talk to you about some dance event coming up in the month of May”

Since I was playing the Director of the Entertainment and Creative Services Department, I was bound to have a lot of guests from time to time.

When the elevator rang announcing our arrival at our destination, we both walked out. There were 5 men all dressed in black three-piece suits with Radio Earpieces in one of their ears.

They bowed in greeting and took their places beside and behind me as I began the walk to the meeting room. Being a director needed a lot of security too, the office was an important one.

I took my seat in my house and decided to take a break for a while since I had been walking around. My mother used to say that I had a wild imagination because when I was a child, I used to cook up stories and tell them to her. When she asked where I heard them, I would say it came to me on the spot, that I just imagined it and decided to share it with her.

As I grew older, I channeled that imaginative power into my life and future. I would spend hours lying on my bed and stalling to sleep because I wanted to dream up a scene where I was on a stage getting awarded for my incredulous writing skills, or that I was a mother of 2 amazing children.

Sometimes, I even dreamed up negative events; what would happen if I got pregnant before I was done with school and had to drop out or pause for a year? I imagined the pain, the tears, the torment, the disappointed looks on the faces of everyone who looked up to me.

I went into my daydream state for so many reasons, on some days when I felt really unhappy, I would lie on my bed or just get to a place where I would not look weird then get myself seated and begin to dream up the finest things I had in my mind.

In those moments, I would do whatever it took, conjure whatever memory I could, just to feel better.

It always worked.

Once when my roommate caught me dancing without music and I had to explain what was going on to her, she said I was trying to escape my pain. I didn't see it that way especially since I always came out of my daydream world feeling happier than I initially was.

On this particular day, I was feeling upset because of two of my coursemates. We had been placed in the same group for a practical and because they were both upcoming choreographers who got outside jobs from time to time, they decided not to attend group meetings with the excuse of having to go to work.

“I love that you girls work, but can you also make time out for meetings? I cannot do everything alone because I am the group leader. I need you to be around too”

Then one of them walked up to me and smiled, “I don't expect you to understand when all you're doing is carrying school on your head. By the time people like you are done with school, people like us will be up the ladder in the society”

I had never been so upset.

When I was well rested, I rose and began my walk into the meeting room.

“Treasure!”

I looked closely at the two people who were seated in the meeting room and realized they were the two ladies who said they would be up the social ladder because they were not taking school as seriously as I was.

I lifted my lips in triumph.

“What are you girls doing here?” I asked taking a seat opposite them at the table.

“We were told to come and meet with the Director for Entertainment and Creative Services for an event we want to organize this year. What are you doing here?” One of them asked.

“Well, I think you're looking for me”

They both exchanged glances as I relaxed back into my leather chair. I was not surprised at all, I had read my books and paid my dues.

A knock at my door announced that my roommate was back and my daydream session was to come to an end. As I opened the door, a feeling of exhilaration washed over me as if the scene I just imagined was real, and as usual, I automatically didn't feel upset anymore.

I don't care if any other person thinks I'm just living in my head, what I know is that my daydream scenes are situated in a real world where I can feel and be.

I am a strict daydream believer.

Many guests attend the dance function which is a real joy. But bowing is an honor. Yes it's true being a director one day there was a lot of security normal. Although climbing the stairs was quite a risk but it was a new addition to Eddie's story that gave a happy ending. In terms of respect. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story. It is better to pay the debt after all.

Hehe... you are doing well. That's nice and I am glad it works. I can also be like that sometimes, lol. I guess being a writer can really be a blessing, eh?

I'm glad you can relate! I believe our imagination is a gift writers have to boost our mood and confidence. Thank you for reading, darling.

Hehe, yeah. You are right. You are welcome 😊

what goes around..... comes around....

Lol....In my head though

It’s the mother for two for me. Maybe I am also daydreaming elf hat with you in my head. My baby on your back 😂.

You really hand a nice dream of success. And I hope you get to accomplish all some day. Focus. You are my treasure in the sky!

Ahaha, that's adorable 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed the story and the idea of daydreaming. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I'll keep focusing on my goals and making my dreams a reality. You're a treasure too, for being such a supportive reader 😊

Those two girls surely motivated you rather than wallow in defeat. Good to know the tables turned to your favour by the dues you paid. Good script dear friend

Yes, those girls ended up motivating me rather than bringing me down. It was so satisfying to imagine the tables turning and them realizing I had put in the work to earn my position. As they say, success is the best revenge...lol.

Thank you dear

You're welcome

Hello, a nice text
You know, daydreaming is not bad when you create your thoughts, but it is really criminal, when people get carried away by certain comments and supposed events and become fearful and restless people. At that time it is good to stop daydreaming.
But when he believes and progresses in his dreams is another story.

You are right, when we use our imagination to drive us forward and believe in our abilities, that's when the real magic happens. Thanks for sharing your thoughtful perspective. I appreciate you.

😂😂 the part of the two girls really got me laughing. Well I think daydreaming can be fun, but I think it is better one still keeps hold on the real world.

I'm glad I could make you laugh 😂 And I completely agree with you - Balance is key.

Lol you know I think writers are daydreamers because I also daydream a whole lot. And you're not living in your head dear, you're just having fun!

Lol....you're so right, there's nothing wrong with having fun and letting our imaginations run wild. Thank you for reading 😊

You have a great imagination and that's fantastic because your dreams can come true.
I enjoyed reading your story because you described very well.

It can still come to pass, just work on it

Thanks for the encouragement to put in the effort to make it happen. I appreciate you.

When daydreaming is about progress and being positive, I loves it. You can achieve it and make it a reality.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for being a supporter of using daydreaming as a force for good. You are a darling 😊

You are welcome, @iskawrites

I could understand you😭😭 I read that I had a pseudo-schizophrenia, sorry. But it is so hard to be normal when you have it. All is not real yet so beautiful😭
