The morning of June 17, 2035 and the sun was shining brightly in New York City. The day was full of energy and passersby moved through the streets with a kind of unbridled energy. The bustle of cars, the hustle and bustle of workers, the shouts of children in the park, all contributed to the riotous and vibrant atmosphere.

In the midst of this agitation, a lone figure with a melancholy atmosphere was walking down the street. She was a somewhat young woman of about 34 years of age, dressed in a matte black leather jacket and tight black jeans. Her hair, despite her youth, was an unbelievably natural silver-gray that flowed smoothly over her shoulders and her blue eyes shone with determination.

She stopped at the corner of 77th Street and looked around. Then, after seeing huge luxury and corporate style buildings his gaze focused on the building in the middle of them all. It was an old apartment building, somewhat decrepit and neglected, which was also the only thing damaging the perfect facade of 77th Street; but in spite of everything it had one thing that gave this mysterious woman hope. On the front door was a sign with the inscription: "Property of M. E. Jordan".

The woman smiled. For that was the place she had come for. She approached the door and hesitantly knocked. After a few seconds, the door opened and an old woman appeared.

-Yes? -asked the woman in a tired voice.

-Good morning," said the woman. I am looking for M. E. Jordan.

The old woman looked at the woman suspiciously.

-Who are you? -My husband and I have told them that we are not interested in selling an inch of this house.

-I am an old friend of your son Mathias," the woman replied. I am here to see him.

The old woman gave a long sigh.

-My son died two years ago," she said sadly. I don't know what you want from him.

The woman lowered her head and a bitter feeling ran through her body.

-I'm sorry," she said in a broken voice. I didn't know.

The old woman relaxed a little.

-It's all right. What did you want from him?

-Well," the woman said. A long time ago, he and I were friends when I was in Venice. He helped me at a difficult time in my life, but he had to leave without me even being able to talk to him because he was deported, and now I want to return the favor. If possible, I would like to help you in some way.

The old woman smiled.

-My son was a good man, he cared for others without expecting anything in return," she said. I'm sure he would have liked to know that someone still cares about him.

-I did have the pleasure of knowing that about him. So, is there anything I can do to help? -asked the woman.

The old woman pointed to a room down the hall.

-That was my son's room, he was in charge of everything at home but neither my husband nor I dare to go in," she said. I know that somewhere he left the papers of the building; before the whole block belonged to us, but because we don't have the data to validate it, we only have the building and they are threatening to throw us out to build a bank. Could you look for it?

The woman nodded.

-Sure," she said, "No problem.

She went into the room and started working. She spent the rest of the day cleaning and tidying, everything about him reminded her of Mathias, the father of her son Mathias Junior. As she did so, stopped in front of Mathías' closet, a soft breeze swayed the clothes and letting out his aroma, she couldn't help but feel a deep connection to her first love, the one who had been cruelly separated from her. Finally, as the sun began to set, under the bed and in a secret drawer she found not only the documents of the building, but of the entire property and a special signed permit making her parents the rightful owners; also a letter addressed to Eva, (that mysterious girl) and the papers of their clandestine wedding that were legalized in New York. After wiping away her tears, she sat down on M. E. Jordan's bed and looked around the room with satisfaction.

-Thank you for everything," she whispered. Rest in peace.

She left the room and went to the main room. He thought about leaving the documents and leaving so as not to inconvenience Mathias's parents in any way. As she was about to leave, she noticed someone watching her from the second floor window. It was an elderly man with gray hair and sad blue eyes.

-Who are you? -he asked.

-Just an old friend of Mathias'," the woman answered. I just wanted to say goodbye to him.

The man stared at her, as if trying to read her thoughts. Then he paused for a long moment.

-Eva," she said, "Are you leaving so fast?

The woman looked at him, transfixed.

-I'm so sorry," she said, "I couldn't come sooner.

At that moment, not holding back her tears, she fell at Martha's feet, who brought a cup of hot chocolate with cinnamon and malvidiscos as Mathias used to make for Eva.

Mathias' father Matthew smiled.

-We knew you were coming, he told us all about you, that's why we never left this building.

-It is an honor," said Martha. We waited a lot for you and why didn't our grandson come?

-Excuse me," said Eva. I didn't know if you really knew about me, and I didn't know what to do.

This is your home, please come with us and let us meet our grandson so we can rest in peace.

-I was really hoping to see him," said Eva, "I would never have imagined that he had died.

-Yes, we did," they said.

Eva mourned the loss of Mathias in their arms.

Then without wasting any more time, the woman left the house. She walked away down the street, but with a heart full of joy. She had found the love of a family again, and although not the one she had imagined, her appearance had given hope and life back to two heartbroken parents. She had found a way to give Mathias back all the love he had given her.

And I knew that he would be proud.

An exciting story that I read with great expectation to know what was going to happen. I liked very much how you took it to the end that moved me. I congratulate you.
Regards @jackdeathblack 😊

The joy brought upon the old couple as a result of such reunion can't be quantified.
It's a moment that eliminate sadness.

We could not really know what the outcome of such an encounter would be, unless we were in the same circumstances.

Thank you very much for commenting, greetings and happy afternoon.

Good story!
In case you'd like to change it, you have referred to Eva as HE three times after the sentence 'M. E. Jordan's bed and looked around the room with satisfaction.'

Dear friend @deirdyweirdy thank you very much for always being aware of my publications. I really appreciate you bringing it up to me, as I really like my posts to look good. Thank you very much and whenever I can, I will appreciate your suggestions. Greetings and happy afternoon.

Eva knows what she’s looking for and she finds it. Your story is perfectly paced, it develops slowly. The emotive “cleaning” out of the room, which equates so eloquently with Eva’s need to rectify her mind; to accept loss, death and tragedy. Then you bring us full circle to Eva’s wonderful discovery - she has a family. Everything is going to be alright. Your story brings a tear to the eye. Quite lovely!

My valued friends of the community. really your comments are a magnificent interpretation of the posts. I really appreciate getting such quality feedback every time I post. Thank you very much for everything, a big hug and greetings.

It's a really good story. The mystery continued to increase while reading until the letter was found. A gripping and lovely piece of writing. I wish the man hadn't died. Now a part of the family will be missing.

Yes, sometimes inspiration comes tragic and I don't like to cut it short by switching to a happier ending. But it's always good to let it flow thanks for commenting.

Great story

Thank you very much for commenting, greetings and happy evening.

You are welcome 😘

Being separated from a loved one is the most painful thing. I'm so glad that Eva found love again and that he son would be surrounded by his grandparents. An emotional story. ❤️

Undoubtedly the most emotional thing will be that a child can grow up close to his grandparents. But the mother as an adult, having the warmth of the family nearby will be beneficial for her, as well as for the parents, who through this event will recover the will to live and will heal a little the wound left by the loss.

❤️
