Preparing my whole life for this

Kevin was a 14 year old boy who lived obsessed with the computer, like many other kids his age. He loved playing online video games, surfing the internet and watching videos of all kinds. He wasn't much interested in school, sports or girls. He just wanted to be in front of the screen, immersed in his virtual world, which made him forget about the pain caused by the separation of his parents a year ago.

He lived with his father, who was almost always working, so there was no one around to tell him anything for spending the day playing. However, one day while he was playing his favorite game and was connected with some players from other parts of the world, there was a super power outage in his house that left everything in darkness. Suddenly Kevin felt a sharp pain in his chest and head, and lost consciousness.

When he woke up, he was in the hospital, surrounded by doctors and nurses who looked at him with astonishment and a lot of concern. Bewildered, he found himself dazed by the light shining on his face and by the pain he felt as a strong pang.

-What happened to me? -Kevin asked in a weak voice.

-Son, something incredible happened," said his mother, who was standing next to him. When the power went out, there was a short circuit in your computer, and an electric shock hit you. Parts of the machine became embedded in your body, and fused with your organs and brain.

When he saw his mother next to him, he knew it was serious, he hadn't seen her for quite some time, she had gone to live with his father instead of with her when he was given the choice and since then, the relationship with his mother had rotated a bit. If she was there, it wasn't a joke, as much as he wanted to believe it, the pain wouldn't let him think and his heart was beating fast because it wasn't just anything.

-What? -Kevin exclaimed, unable to believe it.

-It's true," the doctor confirmed, "You have parts of a hard drive in your heart, parts of a graphics card in your left eye, part of a processor in your frontal lobe, and various wires and circuits throughout your body. You are unique in the history of medicine. You are something of a cyborg.

Kevin was speechless, he didn't know whether to be terrified or thrilled by what had happened to him, this was as close to a video game as he would ever experience. The doctor explained that he would have to undergo several tests and studies to evaluate his state of health and vital functions. Since it was risky to operate to remove the pieces, as they were in places where it would be where his life would be in danger if they were thought to be removed.

After the mood calmed down a bit, he asked for his phone so he could catch up with what was going on and also to let his friends know what had happened. All of his video game buddies were of the same opinion, telling him that he would have to learn to control his new cybernetic implants and that they would surely allow him to access digital information, connect with other electronic devices and empower his mind.

-You may face some challenges and dangers," said one of his friends. Not everyone will accept your cyborg status. Some may fear you, hate you or try to take advantage of you. You will have to be careful and cautious.

-What are you talking about? -said Kevin with a chuckle. For now I just have to try not to die. Although I must admit that I always liked science fiction, now I seem to be part of it.

After being under observation for several weeks and having many medical tests, Kevin left the hospital, his doctor released him, but asked him to come back periodically for follow-up care.

-Be careful, son," his mother told him as she said goodbye, "We don't know what the long-term consequences of this may be. Don't expose yourself to any unnecessary risks.

-Don't worry, Mom," Kevin replied, "Everything is going to be fine. I'll call you when I get home.

Kevin took a cab with his father and headed home. During the ride, he noticed something strange with his left eye, at first he was very scared, but he realized that it was now showing him an augmented reality. He could see the name and address of each building, traffic conditions, weather and news, as if he were checking his computer. He could also access the internet and his social networks just by thinking about it.

When he got home, he was in for a surprise. There was a man waiting for him at the door. He was tall, thin, and dressed in a black suit. He had gray hair and a scar on his cheek. His father didn't know the man, so he knew he was there to talk to him.

-Hello, Kevin," the man greeted him. My name is John Smith. I'm a government agent. I need to talk to you.

-From the government? -Kevin repeated, puzzled. What do you want from me?

-I want to offer you an opportunity," the man said. A chance to use your gifts for the greater good. A chance to be a hero.

-A hero? -asked Kevin, intrigued.

-Yes, a hero," said the man. You are the first human cyborg in history. You have extraordinary abilities that no one else possesses. You can do things no one else can do. You can help us fight crime, and many threats. You can be part of a special team.

-A team of secret agents? -said Kevin, very intrigued.

-Yes, a team of secret agents," the man confirmed. A team made up of people like you. People who have suffered accidents or experiments that have given them superhuman abilities. People who have decided to use their powers for good. People who call themselves the cyborgs.

After all, his friends were not so wrong, playing so many video games had made them think of a possibility that the doctor did not see and that is that although there were many damages in his body that were painful, now he had a gift that could help in something, so despite the damages, Kevin is grateful to have that opportunity.

He accepted Agent Smith's offer and joined the Cyborgs. He met his new companions, who were as incredible as those characters in his games. There was a girl who could control fire with her hands without getting burned, a man who could fly with metal wings he had built, a woman who could change shape, and a boy who could communicate with animals, together, they formed a very cool team.

Kevin adapted quickly to his new life, it was as if he had always been preparing to be there. He learned to master his cybernetic skills and to work as part of a team. He participated in several dangerous and exciting missions, facing ruthless villains and extreme situations.

While he learned to heal his wounds from the separation from his parents and occasionally met with them to talk, they could not be on their phones and ignore him, because he could turn them off. From then on, he was no longer a shut-in, he made friends that he saw face to face and felt good about it.

Hi @jackdeathblack , it's nice to meet you through this interaction. I was pleased with your story. Fresh, enjoyable, loaded with details, which makes it appealing. An eventuality, a fortuitous and unexpected event, originated a super hero. Well done. Happy week.

Flagged for too much AI!

The parts that are being detected as ai are lengthy.

My language is originally Spanish and in order to publish in this community, I must translate my text with DeepL, a page that also uses AI, I specified it at the end of my publication.

I read that at the end, but why "must" you only use the ai translator DeepL instead of a non-ai translator like google translate? I will look into this DeepL, but it seems there are advantages and disadvantages of using an ai translator on hive in this day and age when everyone knows there is a witchhunt going on right now looking for ai abusers. I'm on the fence about this DeepL until I research it further, I need to run some tests to see just how much of the original writing this DeepL changes.

Because Google Translate, makes my posts have some grammatical errors, something that is given quite a lot of importance in this community.

O.K. I won't be going after you about this in the future.
