NOT ALL FIGHT CAN BE FLIGHT

My childhood has always been a meek and gentle lifestyle. Never for once in my school days have I ever had an serious heated argument or disagreement that may lead to fight with anyone including strangers I don’t know. My Parents, Dad and Mom often boasted of how cool and calm and obedient I was.

I have once overheard my mom and dad conversation on how obedient I was to her and elderly men. On hearing this, my dad smiled knowing fully well how well mannered and behaved I was, Even during Family meetings, my dad often warns my other cousins and siblings both and elder and younger to follow my footsteps. Little did he know that this advice was going to put me in trouble with one of my cousins.

I have a sister and a brother, Christopher and Christiana, both of them were my elder siblings and I respect them Christopher is a very calm person but my sister is super active.

It all crumple for me the day my cousins came to meet us for Christmas celebration. I was not happy then because i knew how troublesome my cousin could be. They can frustrate you to edge and will still categories that as play.

My mom welcomed them
Mom; Hey David, wisdom and Juliet you are all grown how are you doing been long

David; [being the first born responded instantly] Good Afternoon ma

My dad with a smile on his face asked David
Dad: Where is your Mom And Dad

David; They dropped us at the gate and left sir, they had an emergency to attend to.

My Dad; Ok David, Michael will escort you to the room.

I knew the week was going to be tough but little did I know that it is going to be that serious

David was ver troublesome, in his school he was regarded as a school bully.

The Fight started on the third day after the arrival of my cousin, everyone had gone to play games out side and lots of fun, what caused the fight to me was unknown, it was like he had me in mind before he came I meant David.

David:( after waking up, and notice no one was at home shouted) Michael!!!

Mike; yes, you called me

David; Now no one is at home show me your real self

Mike; (looks confused) I don’t understand.

What happens afterward was that he did the unthinkable, and no one was at home not even my dad or mom or siblings, I had to stand up for my self and spoke some senses into him because he picks up a fight with me because there was no way I could run. David was surprised Later mom came and I complained. If I had not stood my ground and sorted thing out with David my cousin we would have had a serious aggressive fight, and running was r even an option because the door was already locked.

Presently David and I are close cousins from that moment we settled out diffriences afterward

Who could have imagined that the present Mike Christ was once a quite and well behaved child🙂

😂 you know I don't cause trouble or fight 😝

Liar 🚶🏽‍♀️

There's always that one obnoxious relation or friend that is willing to bring out the worst in us, prompting is to do the things we've stood against for years. I guess that's life. Scenarios like this are just inevitable, however, we have to be prepared at all times to handle them with caution. Something you effectively did👍

Thank You 😊 ma, but it was not easy standing up for my self

It's great to hear that you've always been a calm and obedient child, and that your parents were proud of your behavior. I can imagine how you felt when your dad encouraged your siblings and cousins to follow your footsteps, not knowing that it might lead to some trouble for you.

It's also understandable that you were worried about your cousin's visit, knowing his reputation as a school bully. It's unfortunate that he started a fight with you, but I'm glad that you were able to stand up for yourself and speak some sense into him. It's not easy to do that, especially when no one else is around to help.

I'm also happy to hear that you and David are close cousins now, after settling your differences.

Our childhood we all had difference and other personal thought, but growing up experience and life has taught us that we have to work together to grow ourselves

You made the smart choice. David was bent on starting a fight with you.
I'm glad you both settled the issue and are still friends

Then I was shaking Speaking to him it wasn't and easy confrontation

reetings, @mikechrist! Thank you for writing this story. It may be very interesting for the reader to know how the confrontation between these two cousins developed and how later the position of the problematic cousin changed to bring about better relations.

It was a good thing you stood your ground against your cousin.
We can't all be the same. Some will be gentle and some mischievous and others in-between.
