Hello friends,

Emily was 5 year old girl who was a real sweetheart, since she was born the whole family, her parents and grandparents seems to have a new life energy and happiness.

Since Emily can remember she always lived in this big house in outskirt of the city, just at a little forest. In summer she spent the whole time outside exploring the area and finding something interesting, like little eagle that she rescue when it was trapped under under the steps of terrace. She also loved to chase little squirrels and tried to make a friendship with them, no matter how much she tried to speak to them or to feed them with various nuts they always run away once all nuts were gone.

One afternoon, after the breakfast Emily was on her way to explore the world. There was a little butterfly with beautiful and very colourful wings, she admired butterflies and this example was a real beauty. It sat on one of the flower and Emily slowly approached the flower and started to chat. For a moment she thought that butterfly is listening to her and because it was moving her wings like she would nod with agreement. But them suddenly it flew again and left Emily with unfinished sentence behind. Emily run after and shouted:

“Wait, wait for me little butterfly. I thought that we are friends.”

In meantime, butterfly is disappeared behind the hill and Emily keep running till she was on the top of the hill, but then her attention was drawn by something shimmering over the green grass and like floating in the air. For the moment she forgot about butterfly and slowly approached the shining object. When she came closer, it was clear that this is a box, that was made of some sort of metal. It was nicely decorated with complex pattern and reflecting the sun rays.

Emily sat down and was fascinated with the object, that it was able to float in the air without any help. It was like a magic.

"What are you?"- asked Emily, “...and what are doing here”

There was no answer.

“I am Emily, do you want to be my friend?” continued Emily

The box changed its colour and turned into green and voice came out of box.

“I am Emily, and I am YOU. I am speaking to you from the future, from OUR future. This box is our communicator. I need to teach you here in this time so that you are ready for the future. Now sit down and listen.”

Emily was excited, finally she found a friend. Of course, she was a bit confused about what she heard but she was looking for a friend for a long time and here it was even if it was herself from future. It was just fascinating thing so she sat down and was ready to listen.

*Hope you like my story and till next time.

Such a fascinating story :) But what was so important that Emily risked changing the future?

Hi @seeger, thank you for posting your story in The Ink Well. You drawing is magnificent.

We'd like to make sure you are aware of our rule to wait 5 to 7 days between posting stories. We ask this of our community members to make sure we can give all stories the attention and curation they deserve, and to fairly distribute rewards. Since you are new, you may not have been aware of this. It is stated in all of our writing prompt posts. Going forward, please be sure to wait at least 5 days before posting in The Ink Well again. Thank you!

We'd also like to take the opportunity to share some resources with you. The Ink Well has some great articles in our catalog of fiction writing tips.
We recommend the article, Help for the Grammatically Challenged, which provides important tips on how to use Google Docs to draft your stories. It will point out errors that need to be fixed, and you can fix them by clicking on them.

Good luck and keep writing!

Hi @theinkwell, thank you for your advise. I did the story because my first post was not about the topic of prompt. But I understand the reason behind the limiting the number of posts that is allowed to do and that is only fair towards the users. I will be more attention in the future.

Nice sketch

I didn't see that coming. Cool story. 😊
