It’s an excellent technique to use emotion to get the reader to connect with a character and a story. You’ve used the mechanism to your advantage here by make the little girl so very adorable and lovable through her emotional connection to her mom. A really beautiful read. The only thing the reader would’ve found more satisfying is if a bit more detail was given about the kidnapping or kidnapper : why, who, when and how!
