That one night!

"Who on earth still throws parties in their late thirties?" Ava asked curiously.

"Well, you are looking at one right here," Sam replied, sitting on Ava's unmade bed.

"I'm not talking about you Sam; you have a life, so if you throw parties, I won't complain," Ava said, walking around the room in circles.

"So if I may ask, who doesn't have a life? Girl, you are doing very well for yourself; you have an amazing career that pays the bills, and you've flown to different countries of your choice from your pocket; what else do you want? Ooh, don't tell me it's what I'm thinking?" Sam said in a very low tone as she turned to Ava.

"I don't know what you are thinking, Tinkerbell," Ava whispered, trying to deviate from the conversation.

"I'm glad you don't know what I'm thinking.. and that's the major reason we are gonna throw a party," Sam said in excitement as she walked slowly to hug Ava from behind.

"Can you please let go? You are choking me," Ava said with a bright laughter filling her face as she tried to shake off Sam.

"Well Ava, I have a good feeling this party is gonna be the best you've ever had and I overheard Alexa saying, she'd invited some of the cool guys in the area, I bet you might find someone likely to sweep you off your feet" Sam's phone buzzes as she stands up to read the message that just entered.

"No one can sweep me off my feet again; luckily, my feet are glued to the ground," Ava yelled so Sam could hear from wherever she was.

Sam opened up her phone to see who just messaged her "It was Alexa"

"I can't believe Ava is still in the house till this moment, your one job was to convince her to leave the house, so we could invite the decorators over"

"I didn't forget my job"
Sam replied

"So where is Ava?"

"In the house"

"For the 100 times, can you send her on an errand please"

Sam chuckled after the whole conversation ended with Alexa on the phone and decided to embark on a journey to convince Ava to leave the house.

"Hmm.. ava, my mum, called me earlier that she needs some assistance in the kitchen, well. I have some unfinished errands to run, and I can't go," Sam said as she stuttered.

"Okay, no problem, I will go, but just for a few minutes," Ava said as she walked slowly to exit the house.

"Make it a few hours, girl," Sam screamed from the room.

Sam brought out her phone and notified Alexa about Ava leaving the house.

Knock on the door:

"I'm coming" Sam screamed from the room, running down to get the door

The door opened, and the decorators started walking in, holding different items In their hands.

"I thought it would take you forever to be here," Sam said with a shallow smile on her face.

"And I thought it would take you forever to convince Ava to leave the house, but I'm glad it didn't take you that long," Alexa said, walking into the house with a cake in her hands.

"Okay, guys, let's start working; Ava is about to have the best birthday party in her lifetime," Sam said to the decorators.

After a few hours, heard a knock at the door.

"Don't tell me the guests have started coming already? Alexa asked with curiosity

"That I don't know," Sam said as she walked to the door to see who it was.

"Hi, Jason, you are here early," Sam said, sounding all surprised.

"I've always been an early bird," Jason said, walking into the house.

"What is he doing here and why isn't he with whats-her-name?" Alexa yelled after noticing the presence of Jason.

"He can hear you, Alexa," Sam muttered, running to meet Alexa.

''Why would you invite Jason to the party? Have you forgotten what he did to Ava? He held Ava's heart and broke it into different pieces; you and I have been trying to pick those pieces together to make it whole again," Alexa said with anger filling her face.

"I know, Alexa, I haven't forgotten those moments; I just thought inviting him wouldn't cause any harm to Ava," sam feeling remorseful.

"Seeing him has caused me more harm; talk more of Ava seeing him," Alexa tried to calm herself down.

"We are done madam," the Chief decorator said.

"Okay, we are coming downstairs," Alexa replied, trying to form a fake smile.

The girls got downstairs, and everything was looking stunning, ranging from the interior decor to the outdoor. Every decor inside the house is a perfect representation of the woman Ava, ranging from her stylish nature to her simple personality. At this moment, everything seems perfect.

The door alarm sounds:

"Guys, I think it's Ava," Sam said with excitement enveloping her face.

"So are you all ready? Let's make everything perfect as we've rehearsed earlier," Sam continued to speak.

Ava notices the flowers hanging at the door, this particular flower wasn't there when she was leaving the house. She smiled as she held the handle of the door, twisted it to the side, and opened the door slowly when she heard the loudest voices she had ever heard in her entire life screaming, "Surprise!" When she raised her head, she could see beautiful flowers dancing in the air with different colors.

Immediately a loud music started playing, so loud that it surpassed the voices of the humans in the room. She decided to take a few more steps into the house when she saw different activities going on, ranging from the cake to people drinking and cheering while others had plates in their hands with different meals on them. She stood like a statue, lost in her thoughts with teary eyes and wondering how her friends pulled out this in just a few hours.

"Birthday Ava," a voice said beside her

She turned in shock at the voice because it sounded familiar and saw Jason

"What are you doing here? And where is.." Ava said looking around the room for someone.

"Well, you won't find her because we broke up," Jason said, digging his hands into his pocket.

"Ooh, I'm so sorry, that's bad," Ava said, biting her lips and trying to fight off a smile from her face "What happened?" Ava continued.

"Let's just say we weren't compatible," Jason said, shuffling his feet as he looked around. "So is the lucky guy here?"

"No lucky guy yet; this was all Sam and Alexa's idea; they threw me a party against my will." I don't like throwing parties.

"Yeah. I remember," Jason said as his lips curved into that amazing smile that always makes Ava blush.

The moment Ava notices the smile, she throws her face to the other to be distracted.

"That one thing we have in common," Jason continued.

"Stupid parties" Ava muttered.

"anyways, it feels great to see you again," Ava continued.

"I feel horrible the way things.." Jason tries to complete a statement when he is interrupted by Sam and Alexa's presence.

"Ava, we have been looking everywhere for you," Sam said as the three shared a big hug.

"So now it's time for the birthday girl to hit the dance floor," Alexa said, holding Ava by the hand and leading her to the dance floor.

"Guys, my feeling right now is indescribable, but I'm gonna say something and that, thank you," Ava said, feeling emotional with tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Ahh ahh, don't do that ava, it's your birthday; you gotta let the birthday spirit flow inside of you without crying," Alexa replied, sounding all tipsy.

"Okay, can I get the microphone, please, if there is any," Sam said, stretching her hand out.

"What are you up to young lady?" Ava asked in curiosity.

"Everyone raise your glasses, and let's make a toast to this amazing soul called Ava," Sam said as she raised her glass high up into the sky. "Cheers, Ava, to more life, and I love you," Sam continued.

"I love you too" Ava muttered.

The party ended with the girls feeling all sober and excited. Indeed, Ava had the best party ever.
