In this article, we will breakdown the recent announcement of staking coming to Gods Unchained. The Gods token has in the past strictly provided value in buying packs and cards from what you earn on the weekend ranked events. Now it has been announced, holding Gods tokens and playing the game or interacting with in-game assets will garner increased Gods reward tokens.
Here is a brief overview of what the offering will look like and where the tokens come from. 1 million tokens will be distributed over the course of this event. The tokens come from past pack purchases as well as forge mechanics. There will be what is called surprise rewards given out for past Gods token ownership from December 2021 until June of 2022. Future rewards will be on a monthly basis and qualifying for the rewards is based on participating in the game in some capacity (i.e purchasing cards, playing matches.)
Passive Income
Now that we have the overview taken care of, we can analyze what this means for the game and overall Gods unchained economy. Obviously, this is a step in the right direction for the game and the Gods token. Offering a passive income utility to the token brings in investment grade players and not just people who enjoy the game.
Play to Earn Mechanic
The event continues to bring players to the game on a frequent basis in order to be rewarded with the most amount of Gods tokens. Pairing this with the daily play to earn mechanic I think is marriage made in heaven.
Curbs Card Inflation
With more Gods tokens in circulation, one can assume more cards and packs will be purchased or forged. New expansion sets come out yearly and with core set refreshes as well there was a real worry about card inflation. The fact that genesis cards with limited supply are worth pennies on the dollar is crazy to me. With more Gods tokens, players will be incentivized to buy cards and packs as well as forge cards up to earn better daily rewards. This is probably the factor I am most excited about with this new offering.
