Cliff Dweller Series - Week 2

in Gods On Chain2 years ago

I won't lie, I have had a few beverages which weren't water. Someone once told me if you drink too much water you will rust... Anyhow, I'm rambling. The cliff face is lush, I see many meteorites around me...

Results - Week 2.PNG

The Deck

This week was a bit of a glass cannon build. No frontline, and extra self harm/draw cards. We doubled up on Ragnarok and picked up 2x Encumbered Looters. Brimstone was also thrown in there for good measure. In theory this should be extremely consistent (We have 2 copies of every card).

Statistics

Shocking results to say the least. I thought I played well, at least well enough to get the 9 or 10 wins in Mythic a couple of weeks ago.

I think there are one or two thing we can deduce from these results:

  1. All leagues have the same (or at least very close to the same) difficulty as Mythic.
  2. The Heirloom archetype seems to be erratic at best with a 50% win rate going first (with this pilot at least).
  3. Going second against War is a death sentence.
  4. Don't go second.
  5. Don't go second against Zombies, I high rolled those wins.

I would like to mention that the of the 7 Aggro War games, only 1 was Relic War. It definitely doesn't seem as prevalent in the lower leagues. If the other 6 games were against Relic War, I would be in the Iron leagues.

Rewards

A big fat ZERO here for our MJ packs. Who wins no MJ packs nowadays? However we actually managed to come out on top due to some incredible luck. I managed to sneak into a FakeMewsTV draw on twitch and lucked out with a Dagan of all things. The grind also bagged me a level 175 Grendel, which I already had a copy of.

Looking Forward

Ideas are something I am running short of. Heirloom death seems to be running out of consistency. There are a few players doing extremely well using similar decks in Mythic (with win rates of over 70%). The only difference is that they are running Pyramid Warden. In a game were 1 turn makes all the difference, which is exactly what the wardens buy you, they could be the turning point. Is that all I need to make it in the big leagues again?

I'm not sure, let me know if you have any thoughts on this in the comments.

That wraps it up for this week, I look forward to running into you out there on the cliff face! (In meteorite league this time).

Congratz on the Dagan, that is probably worth more than my last month rewards combined lol

Is actually odd that you only managed 7 wins, I struggle so much with Heirloom in mythic, everytime I see death at the start of the match I know I need to draw very well.

I think I must have had a bad draw. I am busy trying to climb back up and it seems much easier. I still think that they need to change the way you go up/down. Its extremely harsh to need a 66% win rate to go up.

That is definitely an unexpected matchup distribution. Aggro war?! I haven't been following the meta closely, but I didn't think aggro war was in it.

I guess is how Relic War is described in GU decks

Congrats on Dagan!

There are a few players doing extremely well using similar decks in Mythic (with win rates of over 70%). The only difference is that they are running Pyramid Warden

Pyramid Warden -- I am sure it can be useful, against Relic War, for example, but my impression (as a Deception player) PW isn't that amazing card. 1 strength-stealer and it is a pillow that bring you anything from the void after it is torn apart by Deception minions.

Watch @copperpitch video https://ecency.com/hive-173286/@copperpitch/casino-death-insane-turn-2, a PW summoned a Poly from the void. In the second part of the video, you'll see Anubians playing Necronomics + Over the Line. Maybe, this is the way? Because there is another disadvantage of Anubians: everybody knows what to wait from them.

I played Necronomics + Over the Line with zombies. But actually, Anubians might be a better choice (or not).

Just thoughts out loud.

I am doing not so well too by the way. Currently in Solar with new super Aggro Deception deck led by Merrick and Whisper Barons :)

Pyramid Wardens help against aggro when you don't draw your removal. Another card some anubian decks run is Burrowing Scarab to draw cards to dig for what you need.
