Hello players of Gods Unchained! It is I, Yeetmaster, and I am back for another post. This time, I have decided to write a more in-depth guide to Structure Magic, as I have played over 100 games since I wrote my deck-showcase, and also managed to hit 19 wins this weekend's ranked. If you are not familiar with the basics of the deck, I would recommend that you check out my other post here.

General tips & tricks

The Wombo-Combo: Abselutely devastating. Game winner most of the time, and no possible counter play to this.

Snowstorm Spire as a tech: It blocks the hero power of War! Use this to bully them.

Statistics

I have summarized the statistical analysis of my weekend’s ranked in the two following figures: Figure one shows you what decks I played against in my run, and there are a couple of interesting things to note. Firstly, I played almost HALF of my games against nature, which is quite a good matchup for this deck. Secondly, there was relatively little War faced, as the frequency of War was the same as Magic (1/5). Thirdly, there was only one Death game, and that was versus a Zombie Death. Lastly, there were no Light decks seen in this climb. This is generally a good split of decks to be against as Structure Magic, and I am certain that this helped me this week.

Figure two explains the frequency of wins/losses against each Hero. Each outline corresponds to ‘2’, such that if the orange line is at the first outline, that signifies two losses, same with blue one, etc.. In this graph we can see that we particularly farmed the nature Decks, as we won 9/12 against Nature. Furthermore, we can see that Magic this week was a free win for me, going 5/5. A couple losses against War and Nature, with one Zombie Death loss: nothing crazy.

Matchup specific information

 " " \"image.png\"""BIG BEAST NATURE (Chances: High)

Mulligan:

 " "mulligan nature.png""

Key cards:

 " "key druid.png""

Tips/tricks: Always beware of Canopy Barrage/Lightning strike, especially before playing All-Seeing Spire or Shaped blast. Epiphany deals with the Giant Penguin. Do not be afraid to go down to 10 health, as Nature does not typically play any direct damage that can kill you, and their hero power does not target you.

 " " \"image.png\""" FRENZY WAR (Chances: Low-Medium)

Mulligan:

 " "mulligan war.png""

Key cards:

 " "key war.png""

Tips/tricks: Do not let the War get creatures on board, destroy them instantly with your spells. Always watch your health and have a mental image of how many turns you have left till you are dead from his hero power (tic-toc). In this matchup it is important to get your cards out early, control the board, and once you have calmed down the minions, you need to either pick up a Snowstorm Spire which will negate his hero power, sometimes for 5 turns, or delve a creature that heals you. If you manage to stablizie with a Spire, the game is over. Watch out for Sole Survivor, another reason we always try to clear their board.

 " " \"image.png\""" SPELL MAGIC (Chances: Medium/High)

Mulligan:

 " "mulligan magic.png""

Key cards:

 " "key magic.png""

Tips/tricks: This is an interesting matchup, due to the different natures of these magic decks. We are generally much better off if we manage to survive the early game, because they do not play a lot of minions, which gives us the possibility to delve more creatures and win the late game. Oni Spellsword needs to be dealt with immediately, huge pain in the ass. Also remember to count enemy removal, as it is crucial to know whether they can burst you at any point. These decks typically play 20+ damage that can hit your face, and you do not. Keep this in mind. Also, since they don’t have a Ratify (usually), Helian Elite is strong and trials on the Labyrinth Guard is also sometimes good enough.

Shout-outs to: @Kephler for the tool to showcase the cards, @freezetag for the headers, to Gods Unchained for making the game which I have screenshotted from, and GUdecks for providing the statistics in the aforementioned game.

Love playing this deck. Had no idea it could be competitive in Mythic. Card draw is pretty critical to get all your pieces in hand.

Yes sir, you definitely need to keep in mind both your own card draw, but perhaps more importantly, the card draw of the opponent. Was surprised at the success myself in Mythic, but as I only have played this deck lately, I have started to understand the opponent's decks from my deck's perspective. Knowing their win conditions & their cards: This is one of those decks where practice really pays off, I guess.

This came at an impeccable timing, I was trying out Structure Magic earlier on and couldn't get it to work, I'll probably give your decklist a try to see how it fares. 19 wins is awesome!

Hell yeah, for some reason it seems the meta is in a place where this deck is capable of succeeding! Good luck:)

Would you keep the Enchanted Chariots if the PTR changes get implemented? Where it becomes a 4 mana 3/3 draw a structure?

This is a great question! I have been thinking about it: it does enable drawing specific structures if you build your deck around that, but this deck plays a bunch of random structures. I think for this deck specifically it would be a nerf, as the pings are very nice along with the structure tag. The changes are not going live for another month though, and I am sure someone smarter than I will have made the appropriate changes to this deck by then:)

Makes sense, a couple of more questions:

  1. Is Wyrmbreath not enough to make it to your deck? It doesn't draw a card like Epiphany but with enough Spell Boost, you don't even need to reduce their cost to play two in one turn; also more emergency removal if needed

  2. What are some upgrades you would make to this deck if you had the ETH/GODS?

Sure!

  1. I have been considering this too: the five damage earlier would often be quite useful, but I find that this deck does not have too many issues dealing with single creatures as we have Ratify, Epiphany, etc. Wyrmbreath does give us some more damage from our hand, potentially 10 more, but its hard to say whether its worth it. I would like to add that it is quite rare that you get the combo with the Morgana's: my epiphanies usually used as removal, and sometimes just thrown to face if nothing is going on. The card draw from Epiphany is super clutch, and it gives us an answer to Giant Pangolin (!!) and Guild Enforcer (!), whereas Wyrmbreath does not.

  2. I would definitely buy a Monolith of Storms, insanse synergy with this deck and sort of fills the Wyrmbreath role which you were seeking: can be used for clearing, but also as 7-9-11 damage to face occasionally. Sick card, but not really used otherwise. There are a couple of other legendaries as well: from the top of my head I can imagine the 'final draft' guy could be quite useful. I would also switch out the Basilisk for an Iron-tooth, as that is a much better removal card. There might be something better, but from the cards that I've seen, these are my first concerns.

Well thought out answers, personally I'd probably put Wyrmbreath in there and maybe take out Sip and maybe one Defend the Ramparts, not sure. I actually have all those cards that you were talking about adding, maybe I'll give it a try. And luckily for you Demetrios and Monolith are not that expensive, so when we finally get our GODS distribution you can pick them both up!

You might be onto something, perhaps has a one-of. I dont see it being a 2x card though, kinda like the 'deal 4 dmg' 2-mana card. I definitely could: I will likely use my moneys on building another deck though, as I have wrong a bit tired of this deck.. It's not a deck where you can just chill and play on curve, I need one of those in my life haha. I was looking at rush deception, seems lit. I've also got some legendary packs from the run, perhaps I stumble onto a little Monolith..

Great result! Congratulations!

Good to see Diligent Architect can be useful in one more way.

Very educational post, thank you.

Beware of Cutthroat Insight. Some Ludia's thugs :) tend to open your hand and pull (not just copy) what they want. Once, I was robbed in this way. Since then, I have had this card in my deck. (And several times, it was stolen by opponents by means of their own Cutthroat Insight 😄).

People always keep some high-mana surprises in hand so, when I have a chance, I use Cutthroat Insight to take something from the opponent's hand. A Giant Penguin 😄 at least. Thanks to gudecks, I usually can look at their decks in advance. Trial of the False Reflection can be a decent goal too.

I would like to try this out, seems like a very annoying deck to go against. Magic is my weakest God because I don't have the cards for the spell damage build that's running the meta now but this build seems to be cheap enough to build.

Btw, Trial of the false reflection is a card that tilts me. Would like to use this to my opponent for a change.

Yeah, super cheap deck and many of these cards can see play in other decks too. I can imagine: I have never had a Trial played on me, but I have had many quick concedes after I have played it :-)
