For me, the mystery behind who created Bitcoin has always been on my mind. If that guy is really alive, then has a filthy rich person and if he's not, how do authorities get access to his key.
For someone to be so anonymous that after a decade with all our tracking technologies we still can find who it is is prove that crypto really does protect identity.
I quite remember the first time I heard about Satoshi Nakamoto and that was I think 7 years ago because I wasn't a believer of crypto so didn't even bother to do research until that time.
It seemed unbelievable to me that just one person or maybe a group of people could create something as massive as Bitcoin and then vanish. At least take the glory for being the creator, because I would have done so.
No one knows till date who exactly Satoshi Nakamoto is but it's shocking that his name is known. However recently, there’s been talk about Nick Szabo being Satoshi.
Szabo created "bit gold" which actually came before Bitcoin and some think his ideas laid the groundwork for it.
Even Elon Musk has said Szabo might have been responsible for Bitcoin.
I'll share an interview video on YouTube where Elon Musk made his claim.
The interesting thing is that Szabo himself has denied being Satoshi multiple times. I remember one time when I once completed a project at work but didn’t want to take credit for it. My friend best friend was like "bro this could give you a promotion" and I was like nah it's not about fame, I just wanted the job done.
Maybe Satoshi feels the same way, or maybe he thinks that if he's identified the authorities might use him in a way to take control over Bitcoin.
Whether Szabo is Satoshi or not, it doesn’t change the fact that Bitcoin’s impact is huge and probably will remain that way even after the last Bitcoin halving. People may argue about who the real creator is, but the bigger picture is how Bitcoin continues to shape our world.
For me, the debate around Satoshi’s identity is more about the legacy left behind than the person. So regardless of who it is, I completely respect him for such an innovation.
The legend around Satoshi being unknown should remain like that. It’s an important part of the decentralization narrative of Bitcoin.
Yes indeed brother, well said, if they found out it'll be big trouble for the crypto community
