It's a shame the guy tried to sell you a bunch of fakes, but maybe he genuinely didn't know, I think now more than ever there are a lot of people being conned by not looking into what they're buying.
I mainly collect the vintage Kenner Star Wars stuff, I've nearly completed the original 77 loose, and I also have 4 of them boxed. I'm not looking forward to starting on the final 17, because over the last year or so those figures have gone to pretty staggering prices for loose ones.

Oh cool, I have the ewok village, and a fair few ships which I want to hang from the ceiling when I get my display set up right.
