I haven't asked a question for a long time, was thinking about this one today in regards to myself and think it might be a good chance for a bit of directed reflection and maybe through the experiences of others, we can add more depth to our own.
What is one of the most important things you have learned from Hive?
For me, I have learned enough to change my relationship with money and as a result, become more risk-seeking from an investment perspective. Prior to joining the blockchain, I not only had zero experience with cryptocurrencies, but zero with direct investing, as I never "found" the available finances to invest. What I soon realized was, there was opportunity, I was just too scared to take it, as I was too scared to lose it - So I spent the little extra I had on what I thought was valuable, while I continually stressed about not having enough.
Now, I have taken a far longer outlook on my life and recognized that if I am ever going to be able to get out of a position where I am continually chasing money and continually running from debt - I have to invest into building a position for myself as an owner of something generative - not something that degrades in value. In my experience, while it feels good to live in the moment and consume, doing so will ultimately lead to circumstances that don't feel good at all.
Taking the long approach is like eating vegetables, not as tasty as the sweet food, but far better than living in poor physical health for the rest of life. There is an opportunity cost in every decision and we are designed to favor the moment over the future - even though we now live in a world where our future well-being is heavily affected by what we choose to do, learn and invest ourselves into now.
While I struggle financially daily currently, I feel I am heading toward better circumstances than I was and as a result, I am far calmer about and positive on what the future holds for me and the people I care about. While there is plenty of uncertainty and risk in looking long, part of the process is to accept it and in doing so, the troughs don't feel so bad and the peaks are a sign of things to come.

I have learnt a lot on hive ranging from financial literacy, to life lessons, to lifestyle, down to appreciating little things.
For me, the most important is consistency. Hive has taught me that consistency brings rewards to the table. Hive has taught me that the little things you do consistently can yield a lot. Hive had taught me how to read. Reading on hive has helped me change my way of thinking to a large extent. I have learnt how to value one cent and know that if I accumulate it, I can get something. Hive has made me believe in something

Well I can say for now.. I have not put my mind to any thing off chain .. even reading is tiring because not knowing when school is resuming is just so exhausting. Reading without exam in sight can be frustrating..
ENGAGEtokens.I've learned, or more likely reinforced that people are just people. With a huge fraction of the population all it takes is a sit down and you realize that they are just like me.
There are, occasionally dickheads on Hive, but the system tends to be self correcting (except in the case of way early adopter whales) and even they seem to lose out after a time.
I've learned that it doesn't matter where someone is from or how they look that's important-it's how they think that matters.
I guess I've learned that Hive is just like the general population only better :)
People are people and in any community, the 80:20 rule will apply, with 80% of the work done by 20% of the people. It is interesting that this happens with early adopters too :)
This is a really big opportunity for those who might not have opportunity at their local level. There are a handful of users who if this takes off, will be in previously unimaginable positions in their home communities.

ENGAGEtokens.Resilience. The block chains ability to bounce back. It just makes me realize that there are more roads than Theo never are all currently on in our own lives.
My first time investing in crypto I had a problem chasing the Shiny new coins all the time. That and falling in love with ideas and concepts and paying for it some of the time. This time around I will mostly be eating vegetables lol!!
Resilience is one of those foundational pillars of success. A lot of people build without preparing themselves for the inevitable negatives.
Yep - A few more vegetables are a good idea :)

ENGAGEtokens.From a technical point of view, I've learned how a blockchain works. This was through reading so many great how-to and technical posts by helpful Hive community members, and by hands-on tinkering building a number of little personal projects using the Hive API.
From a personal point of view, I've learned how important engagement is. I really struggle with this one, preferring to just quietly consume, curate and not say much, but it is clear how valuable engagement is to our Hive community and that active participation is almost a responsibility. From this lesson I have been challenging myself to slowly increase my participation and engagement levels. As someone who originally came here simply out of curiosity for the technical side if things, this has by far been the most important thing I've learned and the one that has pushed me furtherest from my comfort zone.

I think that this is especially true for the people who are looking long as well as those who have some influence or are developing - silence is not the best way to go.
I find this interesting in several ways, but one is that quite a few technical people who are normally in the background have found that being part of the visible community is important. Perhaps this will better connect development to enduser needs.

In answering your question I have learned from Hive that:
To expand a little bit the number 4, I must say that as in real life, in virtual life is very important to maintain values and socialize with other people, without the rest of the community we are nothing. There must be roles and everyone must play their role, represent it in the best way.
For example the witnesses, the investors, the common hivers like me, that day by day we strive to make a post with quality content, that leaves the best for others and the day we don't, we dedicate ourselves to vote and support others.
So to conclude, hive taught me how to live in community.
I am hoping that people learn that here and start engaging with IRL communities more too.

That learning process is intertwined with so many other learning processes that it is very hard to pinpoint exactly what I have learned from being in this community.
Perhaps that I really, really like being part of a community of early adopters. I've always liked that but never properly appreciated the potential.

Community is a huge part of it though and I do not think I would have learned what I have if there wasn't the community to back it. I hope that the future global trend is to build strong and healthy communities.
That building takes time... but it really feels like time well invested...
I wonder how many people have discovered they are better at building than they thought earlier.
Totally... I think this space teaches you all about incremental improvement... can I retire and live of daily curation of Hive in 2035? Maybe... but we'll only get there through slowly building the content and infrastructure.
I wonder if this did happen, how many from these days would be able to do it and how many wouldn't have taken a long enough approach
Getting social is very important apart from keeping your patience.
Socializing here means getting into engagement and patience here refers to having your presence felt among the community.
Socializing and listening are important - A lot of people speak, fewer listen.
Listen n speak...rather than messing everything around
Hive is still an investment for me and it can be grown passive or active.
But learning what Hive can provide to people and communities around the world is amazing!
Hearing that some people can live on Hive is amazing to witness!
I like the idea of being able to invest and have control over how it is used and what it is used for.
I am hoping that in the coming years, the number will skyrocket.
Thats also a good point. You don't have that control when you invest into stocks or index funds.
It would be awesome for people in developing countries if the price rose!
And it would just look nice everyone else :p
I have no plan of selling Hive in the next 5 years.
I've learned that there are good people all around the world. That may seem obvious, but if you do not encounter other cultures you may just go by what you hear about them, which may be negative. I have made so many friends on this platform and met a lot of them at the Steemfest events. Of course there are some 'bad eggs' too, but they are far outnumbered by the good.
Sometimes I wonder if the bad eggs wouldn't be quite as bad if meeting them in real life :)
I think some of them did attend Steemfest under a different name as they might get beaten up otherwise. It would be interesting to talk to them and see if they can handle face to face interaction.
Hullo @tarazpk,i have learnt to be patient and persistance.
Most of us join hive with the belief of earning from it there and then which is not the case,but with patience and persistance we finally see that it has surely paid off.
With hive i have learnt to be patient and keep posting and in the end,i will it will pay off.
Hopefully it does pay off for you at some point financially - for now though - there are lots of other things of value to learn here :)

I think the most important this I learned from Hive is that, for me, it's an all in one community and that, if I truly apply myself, I could create something great on here from myself and for the community.
That Hive if FAR better the traditional social media
That the people on here feel more real to me than on other medias
that we do not have to bow down to a single ruling body
to not only appreciate cryptos but to invest in them
and that despite a lack of engagement at times, I feel things I post are actually contributing to a community, not just adding noise.
Without the community - very little is possible. Interesting thing is, it is the same off-chain, we just don't acknowledge it daily.
Yup, even the Buddha talked about the importance of a community (the sangha)
There are many smart and talented people here from whom you can learn something. Some people express their thoughts well through the ability to write articles, other people take very professional photographs, and are ready to help you learn the craft. Third people are well versed in cryptocurrency, and are ready to share their knowledge with you. In short, Hive is a great book that gives knowledge and experience to non-lazy people. What I really admire is the multiple applications it offers. This gaming thing just opened my mind up!
Gaming is probably going to be the most used thing on blockchain for a while - there are so many gamers out there :)
I actually learned a lot of things. I'm kind of new here and I keep learning. Some of these are patience, socializing, and English. Yes, English. Maybe this may sound a little funny. But our education system is a little bad. Unfortunately, foreign language education cannot be given completely.
In the first days when I became a member of the website, I was upset that my photos were not liked. But later I realized the power of socializing. I'm happy to be here! :)

That’s a question that requires a full post and I’ve already written it a few times....the biggest for me (along with the similar change in my ideas about money) is the way I was forced to see myself more clearly and what has motivated me in every moment. The way the rewards are always there to think about if we choose and how our pull to them can reveal whether Or not we we are in that “not enough” mindset...and then the community also always there. Which do I gravitate to more? And then I can write about it and dig deeper. I feel like my time on here has been such an exploration and excavation of myself
It's given me a framework to work within that requires me to do something consistently and to exercise some cerebral creativity, even if sometimes only in a small way. Makes me more thoughtful. The $ side of it is a long game though but with the ability to play in the short term by withdrawing a bit of $ and playing with crypto market. Being able to do this with only what I have earned from reward here seemed less risky. As the portfolio grows though I take less chances and am more mindful. I have much to learn!
