You must! Yes, it is quite similar in terms of opacity (opaqueness) and texture. But gouache can be easily reactivated with water whenever you want unlike acrylics. It also mixes very well with watercolors, just like in the portrait above. Sort of like a bridge between watercolors and acrylics.

I am talking about traditional gouache here (water based) as there are acrylic gouaches too. Hope this helped. Thank you very much :)
