My realistic watercolor: Late autumn rosehips

in Sketchbooklast year

The rose hips are already ripe by this time and if they are bitten by the frost, they will soften, so you can eat them directly from the bush. I often eat several handfuls of this fruit, which is full of natural vitamin C.
Before eating the berries, I took a picture of them because they were so beautiful.
Photography is a very good thing, but there are too many of them. How much better a painting is, because it is not a mechanical copy of reality, but has my feelings in it.
Let's not even talk about images generated by artificial intelligence based on words, because that's a surreal nightmare! I'm just so old-fashioned, at least in art I prefer old techniques and noble materials.
The red of the berries shines in the mist from far away. Cheer in the gloom, celebration of life and health!

The rose hips are close, the hills behind them are far away.
Small detail, but with lots of detail and depth, painted on A/5 hot-pressed watercolor paper (Hahnemühle).
This smooth surface paper is a bit unusual for me, but for more delicate work it is much more suitable than cold-pressed paper.

The process
After sketching, I began to work out the background.

It got quite patchy, but I didn't make a problem of it.

I started applying different colors to the branches near and in the background. Right now it's still a messy patchwork, but I like to experiment.

But the berries definitely come in different shades of red! Cinnabar red, carmine, crape varnish, with a touch of orange, burnt sienna. I also add a little bokeh effect by blurring and erasing the colour with the brush in a circular pattern

The floral remnant on the top of the berries is sepia and black.

White was the last color I used.

The colors that you chose for me are interesting, if you place them separately they easily combine but when it comes to putting them on paper it is difficult to mix. I like how you gave the paint texture
