Continuing my art

in Sketchbook14 days ago (edited)

I'm making some art every now and then. The last one was about this idea that I had for quite a long time and was time to visualize it but it seemed a bit hard for me since the composition is something I wasn't used to. Most of my works have always been in a front angles, almost like portrait photographs, and I never really explored or practiced much with different point of views. I was feeling experimental this time so I did this.

I did this very early sketch 6 months ago. I want to learn more about techniques and compositions so this sketch is very new to me. I would usually just draw them immediately or color them first, but this time I wanted to start from black and white first and color later.

I had this lil training in art school before but wasn't a fan of it because "it's too much work". Apart from that, I really don't want to do something again, because for this process you're doing black and whites and overlaying colors on top of it... which for me is a very definition of doing things again and it's too boring for me.

Anyway, of course I have realized how that is very helpful to the process LOL. I wanted to have a lot of people lined up like a cult and moving towards a big god... but having very little experience with painting fields (cos I'm not a big fan of landscapes HAHA) it was hard for me to imagine what they look like. I mean, imagining in general and drawing from it is hard for me as well since I don't train that much but this landscape thing was harder for me than usual.

I started adding the subjects and also figuring out where the point of view should be. I'm imagining myself as a photographer and thinking of my position in the "world" so I have to think what those subjects would look like from where I'm standing. I have a moodboard and a lot of references to help me.

Then I decided the previous ones were a lot more complicated to do with my current skill level haha so I tried making it simple while also suggesting that the line is very long.

Doing the black and white really is so much easier to look at the contrast and how much you want it than figuring it out later with colors. It can make you focus on which one to highlight and be the center of attention before getting overwhelmed by color theory and shit like that.

I added the colors now while this is still a sketch just to have a guide for me to use later. Of course it has to have pink. :D

This is where I stopped 6 months ago. I think I did some other art during that time instead haha and took a break from this.

I revisited it days ago and looking at the work from months ago gave me a different and fresh perspective. Now, I'm thinking of "zooming out" from the environment. The general idea is still the same but it made it clearer for me now what to do.

Even though I still am not completely set with the composition, I'm slowly drawing the figures for fun lol. It will make me see things clearer though rather than getting stuck in the sketch process. The point of view can still change, might be drastic or just subtle, but I like to just put myself in the process and lessen the worries. I like how it looks currently though and hopefully I will learn a lot from making this work. :D

It's really cool, but wonder what's the motive behind it? 🤔 Looks like ppl getting eaten by a Power Puff Girls villain 😅 does give the sense of depth to the landscape looking like its a very long line ✌️

I guess I can explain it better once it's done, but yes you got the general idea right haha. Yay, thanks for your comment! Glad to hear that it does lol

This is absolutely beautiful and i love it ♥

Thank you! :D

Love it♥️

Looking good.. cant wait to see the final result.
I love the unreal, abstract paintings.
