Attempt to landscape drawing in Procreate (beginner)

in Sketchbook3 years ago

Hello hive Sketchbook community. To start of, this is my second post here and I am an absolut beginner but I love drawing and sketching in special on my iPad.
Today I have had tried to draw a landscape (vertical mode) from my imagination in procreate.

TLDR: This is the final result.

I wanted today to experiment a bit with Charcoal: most of the landscape was created using Vine Charcoal and Little Pine (charcoal) pencils.
I also created only two layers. Foreground and middleground is under one layer and the background (sky) under a second layer.

Starting with the beginning, I gave a bit of form to the mountains and decided the shadow to be on the left side of the mountains.

More to that, I created the light side ("sunny") of the mountain with a bit of snow using three different shades of purple-grey colour.

I have created a "mist", fog across the base of the mountain and part of the middleground, with airbrush (soft brush) pencil and used different intensities across to give a bit of shape.
More to it, I decided to create a small "forest"in the mist, where the idea is for the top of the trees to be only visible.

In the next part, I used again the soft brush to underline the mist under trees (cutting them) giving the impression that only the top of the trees are out of mist.

Now I have tried to add a bit of water, a lake in the foreground (more like middle ground) and to give it a contour.

Next part was to add more trees to make this like a forest and overlay a bit of green on top of the grey trees to give them a bit of lifely green colour.

Now is time for the second layer and use the soft brush to create the sky. The second layer was placed under the first layer so I can easily go "behind" the mountain with the brush.

In the next part, I've tried to give a bit of contour to the ground. Not much I can say about it, just that I've used different opacities across the ground to fit into the fog.

Now before releasing the final result, I have tried to add a bit more details across the whole drawing, from mountains, snow, to the sky etc. I know that the ground looks like it's incomplete, but this is the best I could do for now, remember, I am an absolute beginner in drawing and sketching.
