😁 Hey There! 😁
It feels great to be back on HIVE after such a long time. 💙😆 And guess what? I'm finally picking up my drawing tablet after ages! 🤣 I can't even begin to describe how excited I am to start sketching again. 😍 Recently, I've been spending a lot of time playing Tekken, but I realized that I need to take a break from it and focus on my art. So, I've decided to draw the character I've been mastering lately - Ling Xiaoyu. I've loved her design ever since I played Tekken 3 as a kid, and now that I'm an adult, it's great to see her character evolve over time. 💛 It just brings back so many nostalgic memories! 😭
Now, here are the steps that I followed in making this piece: ✔️
⚜️ Reference ⚜️
✨ Step 1 ✔️
I began by creating a rough sketch of the character. From there, I decided to draw both a close-up and a full-body shot to showcase her different sides. On the left, I wanted to capture her endearing charm, while on the right, I aimed to convey her impressive strength and prowess. 💥
✨ Step 2 ✔️
Next, I took some time to refine my drawing by adjusting proportions and fixing any mistakes that I noticed. It's important to me to make sure that my artwork looks as good as it can, so I try my best to pay attention to these small details. I find that taking the time to make these corrections early on in the process helps me to create a better final product. I just wish I was better at this step, though, due to the mistakes that I only notice once I finish my art. 😆
✨ Step 3 ✔️
After fixing my mistakes, I proceeded to redraw my lineart to make it more refined and polished. This step was crucial in achieving the final look that I wanted for my artwork. 😅 Simplifying the details was also an important aspect of this process. On the left is my previous style of line art, which I have used for quite some time now. On the right, however, is a new style that I am currently experimenting with. 😄
✨ Step 4 ✔️
Moving on from the line art, I began working on the flat colors of my character. I tried pushing my boundaries so, I decided to experiment with different coloring techniques. It was exciting to see how a simple change in the color palette can alter the entire mood of the artwork. 😁
✨ Step 5 ✔️
I proceeded to add the shadows to the image, and as I am continuously exploring different techniques, I tried a new approach to painting the shadows. As you can see, the one on the left is my initial attempt, while the one on the right is my second try. Although it seems like I still need some practice, I am determined to keep on experimenting until I find the perfect method that fits my style. 😊
✨ Step 6 ✔️
To complete my artwork, I incorporated halftones to give it a more dynamic appearance. Although I had always wanted to try this style, I wasn't sure how to execute it properly.😅 However, I decided to take a leap of faith and learn through trial and error. The final product brought me immense joy and satisfaction. 😍 In addition to the halftones, I experimented with color dodge and added a simple background along with text for the character's name. 😊
I hope you enjoyed this piece. ❤️
🤔 What should I work on next time? 🤔
I want to work on my proportions once again because it seems that I can't get them right everytime. 😂 Additionally, I want to continue developing my art style and learn how to apply halftones beautifully. 😊
Well, that is all for me now! 😊😎

That's a beautiful work!
I kinda missed doing some artwork. :D
Thank you! I divided my work on this piece into several sessions so I could fit it into my scedule. Maybe you could also do that if you're too busy to sit down for a long time and draw 😊😅
That's what I'm trying to do now.
Thanks.
