Experiencing the First Snow in Life - Building a Snowman

in OCD3 years ago

Hello lovely Hiveans !

Last weekend I woke up as my son was jumping on the bed shouting that there was snow outside. We did not had any snow around here since he was born and he was super excited as it was the very first time for him seeing it in real life. So I quickly boiled a super strong coffee for myself, got us dressed as fast as possible and then we ventured out for his very first snow experience 😁

His very first steps on the snow created this unique cracking noise and he was so fascinating about it that for a while he just walked around enjoying this new and exciting experience for some minutes. He inspected everything very carefully and I watched him proudly all the time 😍 .. We as adults are already used to so many wonderful creations on Mother Nature that we sometimes forget on how amazing they actually are ^^

While he was walking around on the the snowy meadows I was secretly preparing the first ball for a snowman. Building a snowman is probably one of the very first things that you are doing together when you are out in the snow for the very first time and I already anticipated this moment for quite a while, hehe. Luckily this moment had finally come 😁

When he cane back from his discovery tour and spotted the big snowball he got even more excited and we were forging plans to build a snowman that is as tall as himself. His initial plan after just second was to just collect several hands full of snow and to put in onto the first ball to form the second one. As I wanted him to try it out I just stood by and watched him for a while, helping just from time to time in shaping it a little bit.

For the third and last ball I then explained him how he could actually also create a snowball by just rolling one continuously along the snowy area, the same way as I did it before. He directly tried it out and in the end we were actually able to create a snowman that was as tall as him. He checked the final size and was satisfied ^^

After that we went for a walk to collect some stones for creating the snowman's eyes, nose, mouth and buttons. We were also looking for two big branches that we could use as arms. It took us a while to push them to the right places, but in the end we managed to build is very first snowman ever⛄️

After building this snowman we had a a really long snowball fight. I have no picture of it to share with you. But I had brought two additional pairs of gloves for him which we figured out were a really good idea 😂 .. During this fight the snowman was run down once by him. I quickly gave my best to rebuild him, but in the end it showed to be unnecessary effort, as after the whole snow battle he decided to destroy the snowman completely and play on his remains 🤣

We had a lot of fun this day and now also a nice documentation of this day too. I just cant await the next time that he will be waking me up to a white snowy wonderland ^^ .. As we didn't want to end this snowy experience yet we walked the nearby streets too. There were many cars with snow on their roof .. at least until we "helped" the owners to get rid of it in a rather funny way, hehe .. Another great moment was when we discovered footprint in the snow. We followed them for quite a while but were not lucky in spotting its creator.

Thank you very much for taking your time to read through this post. I am sure that it is quite impossible to transfer the actual feelings that I had on this day to most of you through some simple pictures, but at least all of you out there who are parents themselves will definitely be able to do so. There is nothing more enjoyable in live than spending time with your beloved ones outside in nature. And someone like me, who loves the cold and snowy seasons most than any other, simply feels blessed by experiencing such a day 😜 .. This said, I wish you and all your beloved ones a great start into the year 2021 and an amazing time together wherever it may be possible. This last picture here is dedicated to all of you that I became friends here in Hive and learned to highly value during the last two years ❤️

That's so cool. All time spent together and in the outdoors is well spent, those are the memories we should collect. All the best!

Thank you @pardinus ^^

I am so happy now that I also gave this memory documentated now 😁

I wish you a great weekend ahead 👋

o yes, finally !!

Hehe, I planned this post already for nearly a week ^^ .. In Russia the chances to get a lot of snow are probably far higher then here and you already had many chances for snowmans and snowball fights already I assume 🇷🇺🌨️❄️⛄ ..

we got it, eventually, by the end of December! all of January more or less was good in terms of snow and frost. I even ventured to make a few foto-sessions in the park shooting kidz skating from ice-hills. (you may check this post if you're curious -- cool visuals).

It's my pleasure :-)

Oh what lovely memories to make while he enjoyed his first snow!

We only had snow once as children and between four of us made a sturdy snowman to enjoy for a few days even after the sun came out and melted him down.

Thanks for sharing your treasured moments crunching away in the snow @adalger

Its a pleasure ^^ .. These days I am rarely able to actively posts things, but these moments I want to definitely record in my blog. I hope that one day he will browse it for fun and can find some valuable treasures like this there ;) .. Its such a pity that you don't have experienced snow as often as child as one should, hehe .. But luckily you had it at least once and were able to see this beauty with your own eyes ;) .. I actually though that South Africa is a place that sees no snow at all. I was mistaken there 🤣

hello dear friend @adalger good afternoon
This should be a unique experience for your child, I imagine how excited he must have been, seeing the situation for the first time in his life. beautiful what they have done on the level. the doll is the best.
Where I live it never fell into darkness, I don't know what it feels like to be in contact with her.
I appreciate very much that you let us know about these experiences and the beautiful photographs
have a great day

Such a beautiful experience and I'm so glad you captured it in photos, I am sure that it will be one of your and his treasured memories for life. Kids show us a whole new way of appreciating the small joys in life. You can hear it in their giggles when they play with bugs and the shrill laugh when experiencing something new like crunchy snow or that ice is really cold.

In the busy-ness of life, these are the moments that make it all worthwhile.

Looking forward to more of your adventures 😊
