IELTSwithme: Writing P2 - Prevent climate change or find the way to live with it?

I checked the tags I've been using in my series IELTS with me and realized that there is no any post related to English learning on this platform. Is it just me posting this type of content here, or people are using other tags for this?

Q: Some people think that instead of preventing climate change, we need to find a way to live with it. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Lately, there is a controversial topic with divided opinion on whether or not people should learn to adapt to climate change instead of averting it. I do not totally agree with that as I believe both should be taken at the same time to have the best outcome of the fight against climate change.

To begin with, it is time for people to accept the fact that the climate has been changed and they are living with it whether they like it or not. There are catastrophic phenomena happening in many places on the planet such as global warming, ice melt in North and South Poles, sea-level rise, flood, drought, and many more extreme weather events. While taking radical measures to combat climate change can be prolonged due to the lack of nations’ co-operation, learning to adapt would be a temporary way for people to mitigate negative impacts of the climatic crisis on their lives. Constructing buildings which are able to endure disasters and developing new crops accommodating to drought, for example, probably help.

However, just finding the way to live with it is obviously not sufficient. There is a better measure to deal with climatic changes, which is to prevent or, at least, make it stop getting worse. It is not impossible but it does require a lot of actions to be taken by individuals, organizations, corporations, and also governments. For instance, we individuals would help by just eating less meat and traveling with other means of transportations instead of airplanes. Organizations may launch campaigns in relation to climate change to raise public consciousness, while corporations should find a way to grow sustainably and avoid causing irreversible damage to the environment. And finally, governments could also promulgate policies and laws to respond effectively to climate change.

In conclusion, climate change is indeed a real threat. I believe that there are many things that should be done and many more actions people have to take concurrently to mitigate the severity of this issue, and neither of the said ways alone will be sufficient.
