Even though Christmas in Venezuela has not been the same in years, we still use the occasion to recharge our batteries and renew our vows or commitments with family, friends, or work projects.

I am not a believer in the supernatural forces associated with religion, but I do believe in the supernatural power of human beings when they decide to do what's virtuous or right.

I believe that my country will change if, and only if, people decide, once and for all, to take control and forget about a heavenly solution to our earthly problems.

For some of us, time is clicking and this has become a matter of life or death. Every Christmas, every New Year's Eve, we can't help wondering if there will be another one, if X or Y will be here with us, or whether there will be a "here" at all.

In the meantime, we keep working; we keep preaching our truth; we keep hoping doing the right thing becomes imperative for everyone everywhere.
