I still find myself Laughing right now even as i write this because it all seemed impossible that I'd become an agriculturist!! Well, let me tell you my story!! ☺️
Come with me😊

Growing up I never had the intentions of studying Agriculture or becoming a farmer.
As a kid I had different ideas like becoming a lawyer, or a Doctor most importantly an Engineer!!... Yes I wanted to become an Engineer basically because my dad was an Engineer.

Watching him wear his coverall, safety boot, googles and helmet he always looked smart and i loved it.

When he wasn't around i would put on his helmet and get my little feets lost in his Safety boots. It was nice and i thought to myself yes this is what i want to be.

But then as i grew older almost becoming a teen i discovered that to be an engineer required both mental and physical Exertion of strengthπŸ˜‚ so i began to loose the idea of being an engineer.

But then growing up i was fascinated by the ideas of Agriculture.
The thoughts of sowing seeds in the ground and after a while it springs up and become a full tree puzzled my little mind.

I even made attempts to plant by myself most times i forgot what and where i had planted my seedsπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

When I got of age to decide the part to choose as a career part... the options where either SCIENCE, ART OR COMMERCIAL studies... My Dad insisted i chose Science because he wanted me to become an Engineer just like him !! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I obliged though not Very positively i still decided to become a science student.

While in the science department i noticed i favoured chemistry, geography,Biology and Agriculture over physics and maths and statistics.
My Teachers also noticed and advised I go for something not related to Engineering...

By the time i was in my finals or my secondary school education i knew deep down that i wasn't going to do well as an engineer.
So I pushed out the idea of being an engineer. Infact i kinda started dreading it.

I thought of doing something biologically related but I was not a fan of Anatomy or human biology. So i pushed the thoughts aside

I wasn't good at calculations too it messed with my head alot and I hated that feeling of overthinking on numbers and allπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ It made me feel unease.

Well, after writing My school leaving Exams I Cleared my papers and Surprisedly my physics was far better than my chemistry... It got me wondering if i actually knew what i wanted to become in life !!πŸ˜…

My Dad still insisted i studied engineering. He enrolled me in a polytechnic college (yaba college of technology) to study mechatronics.
It was a nice course but I wasn't feeling it...
Moreso, my tution fees was not paid on time...due to lack of money at that time.
So i opted out!!.

I felt confused and disoriented so i prayed and asked God to Show me what his plan for my life was.

During that time,
I met one of My uncle who was Studying Agriculture.
He was a soil scientist.
In the course of hanging around him and hearing him talk about agriculture I had an assurance that I was going to become an Agriculturist like him...
I just knew i would somehow end up in the Agricultural lane.

And after much thinking i decided to do something related to agriculture.

But because my dad kept insisting on Engineering I decided to do something related to both Agriculture and Engineering so i chose Agricultural Engineering as my course of study.
In second choice I choose Horticultural Science.
And as third choice i picked Agricultural Management.

I sat for the exams and booooooom !!!
I was given HORTICULTURAL SCIENCE
my Jamb exam result was strong enough to carry Agricultural Engineering Because i had 241 in jamb... Which was quite high as at that time.
But surprisedly I was given pure agriculture.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ T'was a confirmation that I was on the right track.

My Dad was disappointed πŸ˜‚ but deep down i was happy.

I tried to explain to him that Horticulture does not just consists of flowers alone πŸ˜‚
I Explained that Horticulture is a branch of Agriculture that deals with the Planting and Growing of all kind of arable crops.

I explained further that it also consists:
Olericulture: which deals with the planting of non woody components like Vegetables and shrubs etc

Pomology: Which deals with the proper cultivation and marketing of Fruits

Landscaping: which deals with the Architectural designing of the out door room.

Ornamental Horticulture: the cultivation of Flowering plants for astectic and medicinal uses admist others.

πŸŒ»πŸ΅οΈπŸŒ·πŸ’πŸŒ΄πŸŒΎπŸ‚πŸŒ±πŸŒΏ

I guess after this much explanations he began to understand what it meant to be an Horticulturist.

I also made him understand that I wanted a course that will not take the whole of my time while in school... Because i Needed to have time for Music and other things which is actually very important to me...

Knowing the situation of our country Nigeria, we know that we cannot rely on Our education alone so i needed to get involved with other things that I could make a career out of.
Like Music and Forex trading.

I got admitted to study Agriculture and It has been a bumpy but blissful ride.
So many challenges with the stress and all.

But Now I'm in my Semi finals!!! 😊

And Currently Doing my Industrial Training where we get to do the real Farm stuffs.πŸ™‚

Finally I was able to plant and Watch it grow without forgetting where i planted πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

This is my journey thus far and I believe that by the special grace of Jesus Christ πŸ™ I will finish Strong and well.

I hope You where able to gain something from my story?πŸ™‚πŸ˜Š

If yes!! kindly leave a comment for me in the comment section

Gracias πŸ™Œ

Bye bye for now !!
