I think that love transcends physical proximity though and that your mum would have known how you felt. She is somewhere now seeing everything and feeling your love.

Absolutely, she loved me, I'm the eldest among siblings, I just saw her by video calling and before she died, we talked normally, she laughed and didn't know it was our last talking by phone.
