My Introduction to Hive

in OCD13 days ago

Where to start…… Hello Hive. I’ve been lurking in the background for far too long so thought it was time to #introducemyself.
My name is Rick Deadman, I’m an avid fisherman, naturist and traveller who likes to dabble in photography.

This is a pic from a trip with friends to dive with Great Whites at Port Lincoln South Australia. The sunrises/sunsets there were stunning.

This will be the place I share new photos and my travel and fishing stories. I’d like expand my knowledge for photography as I’m definitely a beginner so any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Recently myself and a few friends went to Lady Elliot Island to snorkel with turtles. If you get a chance this is a breathtaking small island on the southern tip of The Great Barrier Reef

Here’s a drone shot to give you an idea on how clear the water is.

With some of the best visibility you can hope for, Lady Elliot is a must see for the keen diver/snorkeler. From following sharks around, all the coral or hanging out with turtles this place has it all.
In particularly in the second day I had an inquisitive little fella that decided to be my friend. For at least 10 minutes he swam around me, getting closer than I ever thought possible and just checking me out. He even tucked in for a few selfies.

This was in the east if the island in the lagoon section. You can only dive this at high tide but the array of animals you see in there is amazing.
On the west side we get into some deeper water out the front of the lighthouse, or the aptly named coral gardens. As a keen fisherman I was excited to see some of the reef fish there but an easy favourite were the big rays and the turtles of course ☺️
There are 3 species of turtle that frequent the island, (the hawksbill, the green sea and the loggerhead). In one dive alone we were able to see all three species.
One that stood out in particular was a large loggerhead that has been dubbed “Elvis”. He was easily identified by a large section of missing shell, believed to be from a shark encounter.
I’ll have to dig up photos of him at a later date but here are some I was able to get of the Green Sea Turtles. They’re so relaxing and hypnotising to watch they can make an hour feel like 5 minutes so don’t forget to double down on your sunscreen.

I have that many videos and photos to go through it’s hard to know where to start.

I hope you enjoyed the read and piccies and look forward to hearing your feedback.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, Keychain, Peaklock, and Hivesigner,
  3. The master password and the owner key are only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your password or keys; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own.
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once , and
  7. DO NOT OPEN any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.
