Garbage has become a very worrying problem today, therefore a sense of concern for the environment is needed and controlling waste is one of our shared responsibilities.

Various research institutes in the world have revealed that one of the factors for the almost uncontrollable increase in waste volume is the behavior of the people themselves. Where littering is still the main cause of accumulation of waste which is increasingly worrying day by day.

In Indonesia, especially in my city Lhokseumawe; Garbage accumulation occurs because the volume of waste is so large that it exceeds the capacity of the final waste disposal site (TPA) so far. To prevent the ever-increasing volume of unstoppable waste, various methods have been taken to overcome this problem. So far in Indonesia we have implemented the 3R pattern, namely reuse, reduce and recycle. It is believed, by doing this method in an ongoing manner it is believed to be able to overcome the waste problem.

There are various types of waste generated by the community, and what we often encounter is wet waste and dry waste. Wet waste, for example, leftover food, and so on. These wastes can be categorized into reuse; namely waste used as animal feed and others.

While ordinary dry waste is the result of leftover food and beverage containers which are usually made of plastic, this waste is categorized as recycle and can be recycled again. Usually for this type of waste we collect as much as possible and then sell it to recycling bins in the city center.

In this case @sagobi as a culinary center for Acehnese specialties located in the city of Lhokseumawe tries to share initiatives on how we try to reduce waste which can be bad for the environment.

This waste is the result of one year in the sale of various beverages to our customers. The workers are directed by the boss to store them in a warehouse, and then after 1 year they are sold to a recycling bin.

Today we took the trash out of the warehouse and will take it to the recycling bin downtown. Before being brought there, the workers clean it first, like the rest of the mineral water and so on. All of this waste is an asset for the workers, the boss gives all the proceeds from selling this waste to the workers, with the hope that they will collect it and it will have an indirect good impact on our environment and respected. How about you? Let's start from small things!

It's nice to see selective waste management working there too. One way or another people need to be responsible with selective waste.

We have separate bins for selective waste and we're required to collect plastic, paper, metal and glass separately. Some are collecting what they can and sell it. There are also automated collecting points, where you get paid to drop the se types of waste, but what they pay is so little. People rather take everything to the paper bin, or plastic bin closest to their home. Then the company comes and picks everything up a couple of days per week.

Glad to hear that and very interesting @erikah , Your area has progressed, I think waste management will be more integrated.

After hearing your explanation, it is almost the same with waste management in Indonesia. It's just that here is still done manually. There isn't a pick-up guy like yours who comes every few weeks to sort it out.

The European Union has strict regulations regarding waste management, so our country needs to up the tempo, otherwise there will be sanctions.

My pleasure and great to hear you Like it 😅

Awesome waste segregation is one of the best methods used in curbing the menace of environmental pollution. You have done a great job indeed.

Thanks @sumptous
I'm just trying no add to the trouble for the environment because of this culinary stall 😅.

Good one! Well done.
