While we can't afford everything, we have tried to buy from smaller, local companies when possible for the house. It has obviously cost a significant amount more, so we have done it sparingly and in places where someone might ask, "I like that, where did you get it?" Perhaps they will get a new customer in time.

The pitting against is profit driven in one way or another, as is the banning of those who might speak out against it. I think you are right, it is beginning to backfire, as the gladiator events to appease the crowds has tumbled out onto the streets.

The needs of the people position will hopefully be one that will see a slow rise to that tipping point, then gather momentum fast - shock and awe ;)
