Sunday April 30th is my 50th wedding anniversary, so I thought I'd do something consistent with that theme on Hive this week.
How do you do 50 years? Start with the gift of long life. The rest is improvisation.🎹 It was a very quiet wedding, all those many years ago, and it will be a very quiet anniversary.
More than any other response to the moment, I feel surprise. It's not that the time went fast. I always knew time was limited. It's just that life doesn't look as different from this perspective as I thought it might. And I'm surprised that I'm blogging on a crypto-based platform. 50 years ago I never imagined anything like that would happen. There have been many surprises over the years. Really quite an adventure.
This week, in recognition of the pending anniversary, I'm offering not only 50 photos for LIL, but also am featuring LIL photos that were contributed by colleagues from the LMAC community. Each LIL image featured has appeared in one or more of my Hive blogs.

My wife and I know each other for more than 30 years. We will soon have been together for 25 years. Time has passed so quickly. But the more years go by, the greater our treasure of shared memories. Once we were single stems, now there is one bigger stem in history. And I'm beginning to enjoy that more and more as I become more and more aware of it. I feel a deep connection to her, much deeper than 25 years ago. Can't imagine how deep that connection must be after 50 years.

I love to read your descriptions of your relationship with your wife. So much love and dedication come through. My husband and I were very similar in some ways at the start, and in some ways very different. Over the years, the differences have mostly faded. I like to think he has become more like me 😆, but I think it's more that the differences don't matter.
Virtually a lifetime together. We are grateful to have had it, whatever lies ahead.

I never planned to marry and had no idea how to be married. It did take perseverance, and a lot of learning. He wasn't any better at it😄. But we were stubborn, held on and seem to be in it for the long run :))

I am not quite sure if congratulations are allowed in advance. After all, nobody congratulates three days before the wedding. It's more like asking if you know what you're getting into?

Hello @agmoore. Wow, 50 years. That's just awesome. Warm wishes for your big day on Sunday. I'm a long-timer also, so I know the years have flown by with ease, grace, and love. Sometimes you just have to step back and think about all you as a couple have done in those years.
During that time, loved ones have come and gone. You may see other couples no longer together. And you marvel at your staying power. That means you all know what it takes keep the communication flowing.

Those of us who are long haulers know that it did take work (mine did, anyway). We start out blind, not knowing really what lies ahead. Then, as challenges arise we meet them-- sometimes well, sometimes not so well. But in the long run there was a glue, whatever it was that brought us together, coupled with determination, that held up over the years.
Now it's all mellow. Aren't you surprised sometimes that another person knows you so well? I think my moods are secret, but he reads them in an instant. It's pretty amazing.
I appreciate very much your warm and sincere wishes. You are on this platform a consistently kind, positive presence. That is much appreciated and noticed (by me, anyway 🦋)
