in Project HOPE3 years ago

Not everything work according to our plans, a lot of things just go haywire and they can be very disturbing. When it comes to inventions, failure can be very disheartening as hopes are lost, time wasted, resources are burned out and so on but there are a lot of inventions that have changed the world that were mistakes and in this post, I will be looking into them.

Matches

Although this is going out of existence thanks to the innovation with electricity causing a spark that can be used to make fire, it is still not doubt that matches have been very important in our day to day life and are still useful in so many part of the world. John walker a British pharmacist in the 1800 who was keen to mixing chemicals with wooden sticks saw residues on a stick after mixing a chemical, he tried to scrap it off and then it caught fire. This was how matches came to being.

Potato Chips

A lot of us love Potato chips and i can eat a lot of it. It was founded by a New York Chef, George Crum. He had been complained to about his fries not being crispy enough. He was annoyed and decided to slice the potatoes very small and fried in deep oil fry and this came to become Potato chips.

Coca-Cola

The most valuable non-technology company didn't come into existence with the aim of doing business, it was a pharmaceutical mistake done by John Pemberton when finding a way to treat headaches. He used two ingredients which are Coca leaves and Cola nut and made a syrup. The syrup was meant to be mixed with water but was mixed with soda and this was the beginning of the giant beverage company today.

Plastic

Plastic wasn't always around ever since, Shellac was a predecessor in the 20th century but it was very expensive and so Leo Hendrik Baekeland wanted to get a cheaper method to Shellac and then plastic came into being.

This is a very educative post. I found the heading very catchy and I had no disappointment. Cheers!

Good article, what I liked the most and what I didn't know was the " French fries "
