Making Impacts

The Hive Empowers Communities project demonstrates how people can employ blockchain technology and the power of collective action to bring change in the real world. With the support of the Hive community, this project provided clean, safe water to rural areas where people do not have easy access to it.

We are pleased to see the impacts expanding and happy to share about the plans underway for the construction of the 20th borehole. This is a great milestone that has been made possible with the power of the blockchain and strength of collaborative efforts through a decentralized community.

With the help of Hive, we have already brought clean water to over 13,000 people across different communities and these boreholes are a testament to the fact that even the most serious of problems can be solved collaboratively with the aid of technology.

In the rural villages, water can be very difficult to access. In the rural areas where there is no proper water infrastructureor a reliable water source residents have to walk several hours a day to collect water. Even more disturbingly, the water they collect is often dirty and unsafe.

This exposes them waterborne diseases which can have impacts on their health.The mechanised borholeare able to supply a reliable and clean source of water which helps to prevent diseases and protect people's ’s health. Moreover, with the boreholes that we site close the community, the burden of walking for long hours to fetch water has been reduced drastically, no need to walk miles.

Residents of the communities can get clean water nearby, which protects them and save their time. Water as all know is essential, it is life, which means every borehole we construct is more than just a provision of water; It's about giving life and helping people to live a healthier life.

One of the most remarkable things about this project is about how these efforts have been made possible through decentralized funding and no support from any third party. It is testament to the fact that decentralized systems like the Hive blockchain has the potential to improve lives.

This is a project that all started with a just a community and it's amazing to see how the impacts has expanded to reach more communities today. None of this would have been possible without the incredible Hive community support. All the supports we have received in diverse ways has contributed so much to these impacts and the reality we all see today.

As we prepare towards the construction of the 20th borehole, we will continue to share our updates on every development in each phase of the work. We are excited to share this journey with everyone. Together, we are proof that technology and community have the ability to change the world.
