Adulthood, An Eye Opener
This prompt reminded me of a song titled, Adulthood na Scam by Lade, a Nigerian female artist.
While I was a child, I have always wanted to grow into an adult, I have always desired to leave that period of life when I am being ordered around and caged like a prisoner.
I envisioned adulthood to be a stage in life where one attains optimum freedom. I fantasized so much about adulthood to the extent that I used to tell my peers what I'd do when I finally grew up and became an adult.
You know time is a very crazy thing, here I am today, a full-grown adult and It seems like childhood is the best stage of life, LOL. As a child, everything you do is guided by someone, your responsibility, your safety, your feeding, and everything is none of your concern.
Just be alive and all those things would be in place in your life, depending on the kind of background you come from. One sweet thing about childhood is that your mind is always at peace, there is nothing to worry about.
Your mind is empty and innocent, you can easily let things go, provided they don't occur often. You are totally ignorant of people's expectations and you Don't even care about trends out there.
But as you grow into an adult, the veil on your eyes will be taken off, you will begin to see things as they are. The covering of your parents that is blinding your eyes will be rolled away by circumstances. That is when you will know that, man has only limited options in life.
Those things your parents often do for you and you complain, you will be the one to seek them out with your energy and sometimes not even get them. Adulthood is an eye-opener. It will open you up to realities that you never knew existed.
My Challenge As An adult
Like many others, one of my biggest challenges is responsibilities. They didn't tell us that when we get to this stage of life we would be the ones to start taking care of our bills and not just ours but that of our loved ones as well.
Nothing has been more draining than this, you sleep thinking of how the next day will be, whatever comes into your account is already divided into parts.
Funny enough, it's not every time that there would be resources to settle those needs and it's the annoying part. You see problems that you are supposed to solve but you can't and there is no one to help you out. No one would come and say take this amount of money and enjoy your life, you will have to fight for everything yourself.
There is so much battle in adulthood but the good thing about it is that it builds us. It makes us better versions of ourselves. Anytime I tell my friend about the needs coming from home he says, "It's training" And honestly, it is. Those responsibilities have transformed me into a better man. Adulthood is draining but it's worth it.
I remember how I used to wish I was grown up when ever I was left with plenty chores or I was asked to do something but enn! Please I have realised I was wrong saying that wish 😂 Adulthood is really not an easy stage at all
Seriously, it's a very tough phase but then what can we do rather than embrace it and keep going? We will surely pass through the difficult phase.

When one is a child, the conclusion about adulthood is that it is filled with good things especially the aspect of freedom and independence. However, when you become an adult, the reality dawn on someone. Adulthood is about responsibilities. It builds one to be stronger like you stated. That's the good part of it.
