Useless Trends

in HiveGhana5 months ago (edited)

It is no news that trends cannot be removed from social media as they both work together.

There are so many beautiful trends, some of these trends can melt our hearts, some can make us teary but there are some that are nothing but disturbing, this type of trend I find worrisome but from my little corner my dislike for these set of trends could never send them to extinction.

To start with, a popular trend that has gone viral on social media and this trend irks me more than anything

This trend makes people show off their partners. A girl is expected to post a throwback picture of her when things weren’t working well and she is to attach a current picture of herself when she started living the good life and she is expected to caption it “The girl I gave him, the girl he made me”.

I’m not against people showing off their men and appreciating them. I love and adore men who take care of their girlfriends and yes I love to be treated like a princess too but I do not like the narrative that is being promoted via this trend.

Saying you can’t be the boss lady and hot chick you dream of is wrong! Sitting and waiting for a man to come reenact another CINDERELLA story for you is crap!!!

It doesn’t just end there. You go to the comment section of this post in question and you get to see comments like “God when”, “when will I see my own man to transform me”, “where will I catch this kind of fish blah blah blah”.

image.jpeg

Another trend that I dislike is people posting a couple of their friends and asking their followers to rate their outfits, wigs, cars, and the rest. I hate this particular trend so much!!
There are so many mean people roaming around the street of social media looking for who to pick on and you present your friends as sacrifices to be devoured? it's so wrong.

Why do your followers need to rate your friend's dress sense? why do you need their validation?

To some of the people who follow these trends, they are showing off their cool friends but in actual sense, they are only giving the public the access to compare and scrutinize their friends as they so wish.

You'd see comments like "Why is Peace's head like this?", "Joy is the prettiest of them all", "Please tell Becca to work on her flat ass and so many more. One thing these posters forget to understand is that their friends can see these comments too and their friends can feel a certain way because of these comments. To you the trend is just a means of catching cruise, you having fun, while to some of your friends their hearts are being torn apart, they are being reminded of their insecurities.

Some trends are nice, some absolutely funny, and others utterly disgusting, whichever one you decide to hop on make sure it's for a good course.

All images are mine except otherwise stated.

Thanks for stopping by

Thank you!

These online trends are so devastating. One I just saw today:

Which reminds me of just yesterday when I was leaving work (school) and I saw one of the new students, maybe 15-16 years old, and her head was like half the size it should be, carved to a pointy chin by some surgeon, eyes artificially widened and freakish, body horrendously skeletal.

These people are so immensely insecure even more so after all that. Too scared to smile or be seen in public showing any facial expression, arms always crossed. All because there's this online perception of 'perfection' that teens desperately strive to accomplish... even though it literally looks beyond disgusting, and kinda scary sometimes.

I'd ban the internet for under 18's if I were the leader of the world...

(I chuckled at how seemingly unrelated and pointless your images are)

Honestly, I'd support you on this because the internet isn't safe anymore.

We can only hope it gets better which I strongly doubt.

I'm glad you saw the secret connection between the images and the post, not everyone gets it😉

Why is Peace’s head like this got me rolling🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ahhh really? This has been happening?
And that “the girl he made me” whattt?😂😂
See this is why I stay away from web 2 because what’s all these things?🤣

Lol it's a crazy world out there🤣🤣

I totally agree with you. Some trends are just cruel, and because of the attention people get from social media, it's almost as if they forget all their manners.

it's almost as if they forget all their manners.

I tell you!!

All you have said are absolutely right, there's this trend which I saw today and to me it is absolutely rubbish but yet you still see people still going to copy these trends and implement them in their daily lives, sometimes the trends are not the issue but we the people that follow these trends are.

Have a nice day

sometimes the trends are not the issue but we the people that follow these trends are.

I couldn't have agreed more dear friend, thanks for stopping by🙂

where will I catch this kind of fish blah blah blah”.

Big fish indeed!!! What annoys me is that a large number of people will unfailingly participate in the useless trend. The rate at which people follow up all these trend is just crazy.

You'd see comments like "Why is Peace's head like this?", "Joy is the prettiest of them all", "Please tell Becca to work on her flat ass and so many more.

This type of scenario always leads to jealousy and breaking up of the friendship.

Really crazy, you'd do a stupid thing for mere likes and comments? May God help us all.

Every girl likes to be spoiled with luxury. Every girl wants to be treated like a princess. Every girl desires a man who will show her the world.

But you know the game changer?? Being financially independent.

With a man's money you are solid, without his money you are still solid.

The thing with being financially independent is that you will be the captain of your ship, nobody can tension you because once you feel threatened you are already navigating to another direction and leaving him behind.

This is one thing women need to take into consideration before shouting God when and desiring a rich man.

Most rich men are slave masters in disguise, if you are a broke liability, you will not see it.

Na wetin catch my attention for your post.

Ohhh yes it absolutely is!!

Na wetin catch my attention for your post.

Go Bioplor!! Go!!

Women leader I greet you oooo😊😊

😂😂😂 .... Na billing dey always follow this kind hailing. let me come and be going 🏃‍♀️

One thing about trend on social media is the fact that most people don't even care what the trend is all about they just want to join the trend that's all.
#dreemerforlife

Lol they just want to go viral🤣🤣

Joy is the prettiest of them all

Oh thank you😂😂
That particular trend of rating, make government band am😄. Nigerians are not sweet people on social media, doing that trend is like intentionally seeing people up for drags.

That particular trend of rating, make government band am😄.

Make them banned am ooooo🤣🤣

Both trends you just stated above is so inappropriate.

Waiting for a man to come doll you up as a woman before you realise your worth is totally unbecoming.

I'm glad I don't bother following trends.

Good for you Becky😊
