Life can be very tough, and sometimes it feels like you’re constantly being tested. But no matter how hard things get, you just have to keep pushing forward and trying your best. This year has been especially challenging for me, but I’ve learned a lot about, perseverance, faith and the power of a positive mindset.
I’ve faced moments that almost broke me, times when I felt like i was in the dark without a way out. But one thing that has kept me going is my belief in myself. I’ve learned that focusing so much on doubts like “Will it work or not?” instead of it will work never helps. Instead, I try to focus on solutions rather than problems. Life has taught me that if I don’t believe in myself and take action, no one else will. At the end of the day, we all have to save ourselves because no one is coming to do it for us.
This year has been particularly tough for me, especially when it comes to academics and finances. When I was in my second year of university, feeding myself became a huge challenge. The cost of food skyrocketed, and the money I got from home wasn’t enough to cover my basic needs. My mom was doing her best, but she didn’t have much, and I didn’t want to burden her further. I had to figure things out on my own.
There were times when I ran errands for friends just to earn a little extra to buy something for myself. I’d help them get food from the caferariaanything to make ends meet. During those moments, it was easy to feel frustrated or hopeless, but I kept reminding myself of a simple truth: tough times don’t last, but tough people do. I held onto that belief, kept my head high, and trusted that better days were coming. I prayed, stayed positive, and put my faith in God.
Fast forward to now, the cost of food is even higher than it was back then, but things have changed for me. I’m able to feed myself without relying entirely on my parents. It’s a big relief to know I can stand on my own two feet, even in these tough times. This transformation didn’t happen overnight, but it came as a result of persistence and faith.
This year also dealt me another blowacademically. I failed a course and had to carry it over. That experience broke my heart and made me question myself, but I didn’t let it define me. Instead of feeling defeated, I picked myself up, studied harder, and retook the exam with a fresh determination. The second time around, I passed it. That victory reminded me of the importance of not giving up, no matter how discouraging a situation might seem.
Through it all, I’ve learned that nothing beats having a positive mindset and the drive to achieve success. Life will always throw challenges at you, but how you respond to them makes all the difference. No matter what you’re going through, believe that no situation is permanent. Things will get better if you keep pushing, stay hopeful, and work towards your goals.
And above all, i would say don’t underestimate the power of prayer. Trust in God and keep faith in His plan for your life. You may not actually see the results immediately, but in time, everything will fall into place. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope it inspires you to keep going, no matter how tough things get.
Tough times are bound to happen but these troubles are never bigger than us. It's how we handle them when they come, matters a lot. You did well by not allowing those situations to have a better part of you
