I'm here with another writing prompt from the weekly prompt dropped by @hive.ghana for this first week of 2025. It's a reflective prompt that asks an important question;
If you were to describe your 2024 in a word, what would it be?
Adventurous!
That would be the exact word I will use.
2024 was a wild adventure for me. This isn't the Disney sort of cheesy adventure. Nah! It wasn't an appealing type. Instead, it was an adventure juiced with a series of heart wrecking and disappointing events.
The whole thing started from the first week of January, 2024. Bear in mind that I'm usually the type that is realistic about life. So, I prepare for the worst while being optimistic about the potential of good outcomes. That's how I approach things.
However, the series of unappealing occurrences I experienced in 2024 were way beyond my imagination.
Firstly, my finances dipped by more than 70% at the beginning of the year. This remained a constant issue until the last month of 2024. So, I apparently had to deal with some personal financial headache in moments of recurring inflationary pressure.
Secondly, I became a victim of hackers and scammers at the beginning of the second half of the year. The hack led to the loss of my X (formerly, Twitter) account which I've been building for several years. I also lost my Discord account which I've grown for years.
There were a couple of financial losses that came from that too. However, the worst impact the hack could have had is a damage to the reputation I've been able to build across several digital platforms. I still don't know how to fully measure the hit my reputation took in that regards.
Last, but not the least, I and my other colleagues who were supposed to go for a trip in December had to unavoidably pull the plug on that. The whole thing was unbelievable. The build-up to that trip took a lot of effort and financial sacrifice on the part of everyone, especially the main sponsor of the trip.
The fact that we couldn't go ahead with the trip was tough on everyone, moreso the sponsor. She didn't deserve that disappointing turn of event.
Well... That's my 2024.
Of course, there were some wins here and there. Being alive and healthy may well be at the top of the list. I pray this year serves as a different type of adventure. An inspiring adventure with lots of wins.
Let's rock and roll this 2025.
