I grew up with my siblings under the watchful eyes of our parents until I got to my 10th birthday. It was around that time that I started my Secondary School Education. Going to boarding school in that early stage of my academic life exposed me to a lot of incidents which made it pretty obvious that I'm not from a financially buoyant family.
To be fair, even before getting to that age, it was already obvious to me that the financial position of my family wasn't inspiring. We had to hold ourselves back from doing things that looked really appealing. We didn't spend money on things "just because we like or want those things". We also didn't eat things because "we felt like eating them". Instead, we were all conditioned to take whatever that's affordable.
Big Ups to my parents though. They didn't have a lot, but they worked really hard to make sure we wouldn't starve to death. They also did a good job of giving us quality education. Now, let's explore what's highlighted in the writing prompt below;
How would you feel if you learned that your parents were secretly rich and had never told you?
I've heard about stories like these a couple of times and I genuinely don't understand why anything like this would happen. Is it that the parents want to deceive their kids? Why would they do that? Do they not trust their kids or what?
Whatever the case may be, if there is a world where I get to learn that my parents were secretly rich without telling me, I genuinely hope I get to learn about that when they are both still alive and healthy. As long as they are alive when I discover it, I will make it my mission to make sure they will spend every penny of that money on themselves. I don't care how it's going to happen, they just have to live a ridiculously luxurious life with every penny of the money.
I won't even be mad about their action. Also, I won't take a penny out of the money. I just hope their decision to be "secretly rich" didn't negatively affect me, my siblings, or them. As far as no one suffered unduly because of their "secret wealth", I won't even flinch or get pissed. I will just make sure they enjoy what's left of their life while also enjoying all the wealth they have.

That's understandable. A lot of people would also react the way you highlighted and they can't be blamed for it. Parents owe it to their kids to give the kids a good life. Hiding their wealth doesn't really make sense. Hehe
The idea of parents hiding their wealth from their kids is just a ludicrous one. Why would they even do that😄.
However,per adventure it is true, I like how you handle the situation. Instead of driving a wedge between you and your parents courtesy of their own wealth, you ensure they enjoy their wealth. Intriguing.

This one is rather interesting. I just thought about it and I know something like that happens. However, it just doesn't make sense that parents would hide their wealth from their kids. Haha. Not even in Nollywood 😂.
