The Bills never stop coming

Adulthood na scam is a common slang you will often hear among Nigerian youths that it even got a music record to it, why won't it, I'm also very guilty of repeating this slang, especially on days when this adulthood lifestyle is so overwhelming, if only we knew, some few years or decades back when we were wishing to become adult too soon so we could be independent and take decisions by ourselves, without the involvement of our parents at all time, how our mind skipped the part of taking up responsibility is baffling.

We only looked at the bright side of freedom, having a house of our own, leaving the house and coming back home without any curfew, being respected and not looked down on as a child, getting married, having children, etc😂 We forgot that to every lifestyle of an adult, bills are always attached, because we had parents who took care of all of those worries for us, and it felt like it never existed, how ignorant we were.

If there is one thing about this adulthood I'm so tired of, it's the bills upon bills, it never ends😩, literally everything costs money, from the food we eat, clothing, spending time with friends and family, getting married, having children, taxes and all other childhood wishes all cost money, we never knew how helpful our parent was to us, our superheroes, taking care of us right from birth till we decide to be on our own, funny enough, some of them are still not tired of taking our responsibility even as adults, it took so many of us stepping into these adult shoes to become very appreciative of our parent.

To settle these bills, we need to work, another aspect of adulting we took for granted, we thought adulthood was about flexing, not knowing that you won't even have the luxury of time anymore as we did as children, now we wish we could go back to being a child once more, but that isnot possible, we have no choice than to adapt to this stage of our lives, the bills won't stop, but yet, try and get involved with things that relieved you from the stress of adulthood, pick up a hobby, that would not necessarily need any billing, so it won't become tiring, it's so easy to fall into depression as adults because of the stressful lifestyle, and bills, we should build a good network of friends, because, they are the ones we rely on when it gets overwhelming, also be a shoulder someone can rely on too, by so doing, it becomes less stressful and we also enjoy the brighter side of being an adult.

Having someone to love and be loved, building your business, career, and family, and continue hitting successful milestones, are all good things to be proud of being an adult.Adulthood may indeed be asssam, in the eyes of the naïve, which we all were, but for those of us who embrace its trials and triumphs with open arms, it is a rite of passage, a journey of self-discovery and personal growth that shapes us into the individuals we were meant to become.
