Reflections: Today we are, tomorrow we don't know!

My mother, a country woman dedicated to farming, herding animals and household chores, never finished her elementary school studies, but even I could not compete with her in the basic operations of mathematics. Her wisdom, based on lived experiences, was always available to motivate us children, guide her granddaughters and collaborate with the diverse situations of her friends.

Contrary to what my father thought, that life was eternal (limited to about 100 years) and he was afraid of death and related words, my mother was very clear that it was a moment in life that had to happen yes or yes, like the mathematical postulates “a statement that is recognized as authentic without requiring verification”.

A phrase that I remember very well is when he used to say “today we are, tomorrow we don't know”, referring to unfortunate situations when someone close to the family or anyone who physically left this earthly plane died. As it is to be expected, death comes unexpectedly, suddenly, nobody goes out to the corner to wait for death to come looking for him, although I do have the conviction that when it is our turn, it comes to us even if we disguise ourselves as “invisible man”.

Unfortunately there are millions of cases worldwide where inexplicable death situations occur, for example, in a navigable lake with a surface of 13,210 km² a person went out in a small boat with the intention of enjoying sailing and a day of fishing, it turns out that unexpectedly a thunderstorm forms and lightning strikes his person, causing his death.

Recently the roof of a discotheque in Santo Domingo collapsed and several people died, some of them noticed that some pieces of the roof were falling, but few did anything to get out of the place, none thought that their moment had arrived, everything is unexpected, nobody wants something to happen to them that ends their existence, today we are, tomorrow we don't know!

Life is short, very limited in time.
The best way to enjoy it and "live it to the fullest" is to do what makes us feel good,
regardless of what people will say.
