Due to these power outages and rationing, the pumps that supply the entire town have left the pipes without pressure. This has caused a water shortage, so many families are using different methods to meet this need.
One way to meet this need is usually to hire a water truck to fill up water jugs, jerry cans, and so on. In my case, I have to carry a jerry can of water—not an overly large one—several blocks from my house, about 800 meters away, to go there, and obviously, it would be the same 800-meter distance back with the full jerry can , and this isn’t something you do just once a day—at least not here at my house. Not here, in my case.
For families with fewer resources, it’s even much harder, since they have to walk a greater distance. Some of them make their own carts to make it a little easier to carry this vital liquid, and even though proposals and public complaints have been made, the government still hasn’t responded to these calls. And because of simple things like this—like water and electricity shortages—we fall back into that misery characteristic of Venezuelan towns.

Como venezolano entiendo también la impotencia que producen situaciones lamentables como esas. Pero a pesar del caos, la capacidad de adaptación que tenemos ante la adversidad es digno de respeto. No quiero dar a entender que estoy de parte de que nos tengamos que acostumbrar a eso (porque nadie debería vivir así y menos cuando el acceso a los servicios en nuestro país son un derecho protegido por la ley) pero tristemente a muchos no les queda otra opción.
A veces me pregunto que sentido tiene seguir confiando una y otra vez en darle poder a gente que nunca podra resolver nada, independientemente la ideología que representen, porque por muy buenas intenciones y motivos que tengan algunos para "gobernar" bien, la corrupción es como un cáncer reincidente que vuelve a aparecer una y otra vez pasen los años que pasen.
La pregunta es: ¿Realmente tiene una persona, quien sea, el derecho o la capacidad de resolver los problemas de la sociedad? Hemos probado mil formas de gobierno...
