Overview

Welcome back Splinterlands battlemages to another edition of "For Guild & Glory," my brawl report series covering all my battles in Tier 5 with Splinterlands' top-ranked guild, @shield-of-glory, the flagship guild of the Kingdom of Glory [KoG] alliance.

DuceCrypto & Shield of Glory

Just two brawls away from the 250 mark, Shield of Glory finished top of the pile in Tier 5 ahead of our allied guild, Guardians of Glory, and Summoner's Tribe, who were the cream of the crop back when we brawled in Tier 4. Huge props to @megakyodaibanrai, @infiniteworld, and @rslnd943 for the 7-0 clean sweeps of their frays.

Of our 25 brawlers this cycle, only three finished with a record under 50%, and all three finished at a respectable 3-4. This was by far our best brawl in Tier 5, so I'd like to give some credit to @danderlion and @xsuilx who have helped immensely with guild recruitment over the years. We wouldn't be where we are now without your effort!

I managed a 5-2 result in Fray 20 - Gold Foil Modern Silver League. Let's get right to the action!

BATTLE 1 at @odinsonzclan of The MobyDicks

image.png

My opponent from The MobyDicks brought a few under-leveled monsters and a conscript summoner without a second Gladiator, so they were at a clear disadvantage. I love finding spots to give Kharafax a dual attack, and the positioning worked out perfectly to ring up a double kill in Round 2 by zapping Katie for 3 and shooting Olivia for 4. Winner Winner!

BATTLE 2 at @karameru of T&A Legion I

image.png

My positioning was terrible for this battle and I was quickly punished by karameru in a similar mirror match. The big difference in this battle was their use of Lurker for a taunt in the back. My monsters all suffered thorns damage, IF they managed to land the attack at all. All while his opportunity monsters skipped past my Arkemis and took out Tide Biter with its reflection shield -- my unsuccessful blast insurance!

BATTLE 3 vs @kyl3 of YGG Brawlers (Niflheim)

image.png

It is always a bit bittersweet to take down my Brawlers brethren since I have my alt @treycrypto playing with the Brawlers in Tier 4. But poor Kyl3 took a whooping in this one. I'm not sure what he was thinking with Reklah, because only Dr. Blight benefitted from the reflection shield ability, but I guess he figured it was better than Thaddeus or Dallan. On the water team, Diemonshark did its thing, trampling in Rounds 2 and 3 on the way to a casualty-free victory.

BATTLE 4 vs @thoogen of Knights United

image.png

Thoogen and I both played similar life lineups with Tofu as our summoner. They settled for only one weapon trainer for Kharafax, and a beefier sneak attack with reflection shield protection. I preferred to give Kharafax a dual attack again, and plopped Inevitable in the rear to soak up melee sneak damage. Imperial Knight did a great job of absorbing the magic attack aimed at the tank and combined with triage and life leech, Zyriel stayed alive just long enough to see my Kharafax run away with the win again!

BATTLE 5 at @atnazo of Summoner's Tribe

image.png

Atnazo and I brought similar lineups in a Quix mirror match with narrow rulesets FabFour and Little League. And just like my battle against karameru, my battle strategy was vastly inferior to theirs. I chose death for the protect ability of Ravenhood Warden, but their sneak strategy was faster (+1 speed bonus from barracks at home) and stronger (with inspire from Nimbledook Scout) to take my team down without much trouble. Dang, losses to my two strongest opponents!

BATTLE 6 at @rebelyell666 of [YGG] Legion

image.png

Another battle and another runaway win for Tofu with a double weapon trainer setup. Without dragon available, I felt a lineup with Aves and Ava would be the best approach, giving me a bit more speed than Zyriel. With the added health from Tofu, my monsters stood up to their 6 melee attackers while the thorns damage tore through their lineup.

BATTLE 7 vs @jedielf of [KoG] Guardians of Glory

image.png

Playing against JediElf is always a must-win battle for the Kingdom of Glory bragging rights, so I had to lock in for this 13-mana battle with only 2 elements available. With Holy Protection and FiveAlive rulesets, I knew I needed to fill all five of my slots to take full advantage of the divine shield. I also chose Kelya to armor up my five monsters even more. That paid off when JediElf chose Zeddica with only four monsters, opting for a pair of the 2-mana null attack commons from Rebellion.

Instead, I jammed a trio of 1-mana monsters including two new Rebellion reward cards: the ubiquitous Halfling Refugee and the legendary Endless Gibbon. That gave me two extra attackers at the front of my lineup, while we both had Isgald Vorst and Pelacor Bandit beating up the backline. Sorry Jedi, better luck next time!

Bragging Rights

I couldn't let a first-place finish slip by without reminding the Splinterverse that the top-ranked guild took the top spot in Tier 5 brawl, especially against rivals like Guardians of Glory and Summoner's Tribe. This past brawl was 248 and the current brawl is 249, meaning the next brawl will be the big 250! Hopefully, Shield of Glory can maintain its #1 spot against the rest of the Tier 5 challengers. Until next time...
