My mornings are usually spent on computer work. I enjoy my work and fee inspired in the mornings. After even just half an hour sitting down though, I must stretch my legs, rain or shine. Normally I take a walk, or a jog, around the garden or even venture to the creek.
Finally, the rain clouds parted and sunshine poked through. After a couple of days spent mostly indoors I was excited for a moment to bask in the sun.
All morning I had been doing indoor work, typing away on the computer, making meals, and cleaning the house. I had been eagerly awaiting the break from monotony and a bit of sunshine with which to frame pictures for my most recent post about the steps in my creative process.
As I set up the images atop of one of my floral print skirts (because the grass was still super wet) I noticed that there were tons of mums flowers around. I grabbed a handful of them and sprinkled them all about my artistic scene. The flowers were still moist, covered with rain drops from our first big storm of spring.
I wanted to capture a bit of that energy ~ fresh flowers after abundant rain fall. So I grabbed my collecting basket and gathered up not only mums but also ornamental lavender, wild sage leaves, roses, and a few sprigs of rosemary.
The flowers are drying now and once they are ready to I'll store them in a jar to keep on my bookshelf to remind me of the first rains of spring, all the flowers that burst forth, and this lovely break from work.
Okay, back to typing now! Have a lovely day everyone <3
As I write this comment here it is cloudy and you have managed to make me feel those rays of sunshine. That feeling of going outside again after the rain is wonderful, as if she had taken the bad energies with her, finding a clean and renewed atmosphere. I love the final photograph with that explosion of colours.

Oh I love that idea of the rain taking away bad energies. I think you are right about that. And then the sunshine comes in and fills that space with positivity! Thanks so much for your kind comment.
You’re welcome, dear! 🤗
There is something magical about capturing the essence of a flower! Picking them also places you in an entirely different world. Stunning!
I so agree!! I look forward to spring and fall for the bounty of flowers there are to look at, collect, and save jars and dried bouquets to feel that magical year round.
Sorry about the delayed reply! What a hectic week. Full of flowers nonetheless! I hope that you also had more chances to harvest even more flowers.
I kept on smiling whiles reading this. This is such a lovely thing to do🥰. I’m just curious to know how long they’ll stay till they die?
Oh I am so glad that this made you smile! I felt like posting something more light & whimsical today. and to answer you question :: the flowers that are growing in the ground will last a few weeks, or as long as it keeps raining. The flowers that I harvested will keep for about a year if I dry them well. The white flowers (mums) aren't meant to consuming so it is just for decoration.
Ohh? About a year? Wow
That’s really nice. ☺️
Tempted to ask if it works with roses?
It also works with roses, more so the red and pink roses because white ones tend to just turn brown. It is all about how you dry them. If you want to dry some flowers at home I would suggest laying them flat on a wooden plate, or even cardboard works well too, then keep the flowers in the shade until they are totally dry. This can be tricky in humid climates but I think it is a nice way to keep the flowers all year.
This is really insightful
Thank you so much
The flowers are pretty. Flower picking is quite therapeutic.
