Healthy party, when I first heard about this, I was like, “What on earth does this mean or entail?” I had to read about it from the social media page of the organizers, then I got to understand what it would be all about.
So on Saturday, I attended a healthy party, it was called 'Aproko Nation Fiesta'. The person who came up with this initiative is popularly called 'Aproko Doctor,' you would be wondering what this means; calm down; I got you. So aproko is a local colloquial, which means talking too much. Here's the thing: this guy is a medical doctor and a content creator on most social media platforms, so what he does is take complex medical terms and situations and then explain them in very simple terms that even a child would understand. He gives health tips on how to prevent certain illnesses that can be prevented based on the lifestyle you live. In summary, he talks about health in local terminologies for the benefit of the layman.
Coming back to what the party was all about, it was a party no doubt, but it was not characterized by the usual booze and smoke that is mostly the norm of parties. Although there was music, good ones (party music I mean), there was food, different games, and engagements. But you weren't allowed to come in with any form of alcohol or smoke, in fact, in place of these unhealthy stuff, different healthy drinks were sold, and there were healthy foods as well. There was also provision for different types of health checks if you wanted, although some of the health checks were free, some were part of the package for those who got paid tickets for the event.
Initially, when the party started, it felt like it was boring, coupled with the fact that the sun was so hot, as it was an open-air event ,but gradually the vibes started growing and it,became really interesting.
There was even a dance competition, so 'Aproko doctor' is usually fond of using 'Emeka' and 'Nkechi', for most of his illustrations and also to add a comical effect to his content. So for the dance competition, a guy and a girl were asked to dance and they were called the famous 'Emeka' and 'Nkechi'. Nkechi had some really smooth moves when compared to Emeka, but Emeka was all out to entertain us, giving moves that were really hilarious 😂
Finally, when it was time to pick the winner, this responsibility was given to the audience and everyone was screaming Efor meka as the winner, they had to even go through several rounds, but the crowd kept calling Emeka ahe winner, and he was awarded, then an individual decided also to give Nkechi some prize money.
At the end of the day, everyone was pumped, I was really glad I attended, because at some point I almost didn't go again. I and my friend that went had to leave on time because we came from quite a distance.
This is how my Saturday and by extension, my weekend. How did yours go, let me know about it in the comment section.
